Just what she was expecting each of them to say and ask. Hanako eyed the shy one first to answer his question since he was the first to ask it. "The answer of course is yes. However you don't get to know it until after the time is up and you've either failed or passed." To be honest she hadn't really thought of a penalty for them at all. It was more or less a trick to see how well he'd work under pressure. Nothing to much for the first lesson, but enough to see his basic reactions.
Her eyes now moved onto the second one to speak up. Works of wisdom this one speaks. Worrying about failure before a mission is how some missions fail. Then again if you can think of all possible outcomes from success to failure. One might be able to spin things into their favor. "I see you eager to get started."
Hanako paused for a moment and looked up. She was checking the position of the sun to tell the current time. A useful trick for when you're on a mission and didn't bring any form of time piece. As she checked Hanako spoke up and answered the thin girl's questions. "Your target is me." Talking was now done in her mind. The time was just right. "And now..." She paused to look back at the group. "Start!"
The lesson had begun and after speaking the word Hanako disappeared from sight into the tree. It was now up to the three of them to track her, find, and try and capture her. They could use weapons if they had anything. This was the first team lesson. Hopefully they'll get the point.
After moving away from the group into the wooded area she leaned up against a tree and waited to see how long it would take to get started. Once they start moving I'll start moving. After a few minutes I'll start playin with them. She thought to herself.

Kyomu's eyes dropped as Mitsuko berated his question, he was probably right, better not to think about it. Regardless, his sensei elected to answer the question, she just elected to be entirely obscure as to the details, which didn't help Kyomu get over worrying about it at all. Her confirmation of his suspicion that it would be her that they were pursuing only served to worsen his anxiety, how could the three of them even think about tackling a Jounin? How could the other two be so confident about it? They were about to get beaten into the dirt and Mitsuko was strutting as though he was in perfect control of the situation. Kyomu dragged a hand through his hair, his eyes still on the ground, this was going badly, with Mitsuko posturing as though he were Rikudo Sennin himself and Akemi probably just as mad to get under way Kyomu knew almost exactly how this would go down. We're going to wander in there and she's going to swat us one by one, just like insects.
As Hayashi-sensei sped off Kyomu stared intently out the corner of his eye to where she had vanished in to the trees, he couldn't see any sign of her, that didn't mean she wasn't there though. He was pretty sure she had an eye on them, that more than any facet of the situation made him altogether edgy. It wasn't just her rank which gave her the advantage, as she was ahead of them it would be ever so simple to ambush them and on top of that since she had chosen the ground she had probably seen the terrain beforehand. All roads seemed to point to doom and then there was whatever punishment she had dreamed up for once they had been thoroughly trounced.
The Kagami sighed as he lifted his head, he glanced to his team mates, only semi-consciously his hand slid out of his pocket and touched the one in which his scroll was kept. He'd certainly need that before the 4 hours were up. From there he unzipped his top, showing the mesh underneath, he was sweating a flood and the headband wasn't helping so he removed it and tied it loosely about his neck. Finally looking properly to his new team mates he spoke up, 'S-so do either of you have any ideas on how we're going to go about this?

So there is actually a punishment... Mitsuko thought about what that could be. Laps, push ups? Something like that, nothing to worry about. I shouldn't even think of it. He quickly shoved the thought from his head, as some physical test like that wouldn't be too much of a hassle for him. He'd found that despite his heritage and lack of any sort of favorable gene pool, he came out with quite the physical advantage over his peers. He possessed the strength, speed, and physique of a boy who was much older. That gift was certainly going to be very useful moving forward, specifically considering the teammates that had been assigned to him. Mitsuko had to make use of the cards he was dealt.
The boy shifted his attention to Hayashi-sensei, who responded to Mitsuko's "eagerness", which was a rather positive spin on what most would refer to as impatience and rashness. The boy himself thought of it as impatience at the lack of any activity within the group. He snuck a look at Kyomu, whom he had recently took a shot at. True to form, the genjutsu user was staring at the ground, dejected by his teammate's tone of voice and harsh words. I didn't mean to do that... Mitsuko found himself regretting his previous comment, which had taken a toll on the other boy. It was an unfortunate side effect, but he had to establish himself as not only the best of the team, but its leader, or so his father said. The alleged 'necessity' of his actions didn't lessen the guilt at all, though.
Wiping the frown that had appeared, without Mitsuko's consent, off his face, he looked to Akemi, who asked a question that probably should have been asked a while ago. In fact, he felt stupid for not asking it, though the upside was that he looked as if he knew, and that was impressive, in a way. Her answer didn't surprise him, but it worried him nonetheless. It was almost as if he subconsciously assumed it. Still, a genin versus a jounin was nowhere near fair. It seemed that all the higher level ninja were challenging Mitsuko lately. First an ANBU, then a jounin, and then the same jounin again. Maybe this is good...although, even for me, expectations like those are ridiculous...
Soon enough, Hayashi-sensei disappeared, using the Body Flicker Technique, no doubt. The forest she had decided to hold their training session in would be tough to navigate, and on top of that, he had his teammates to worry about. In all honesty, he didn't really want to work with them. This could turn out to be a good opportunity. Maybe when she's distracted with them, I can catch her... While teamwork would seem to be the best option, that wouldn't quite be making the statement he wanted to.
Kyomu spoke up again, this time staring directly at his teammates. It seemed he wanted to organize, get a plan going, and attack in a coordinated fashion. Logical. Mitsuko took a few steps forward, towards the forest and a head of his two teammates, and looked back at Kyomu. "I don't see anyway to plan this out." He said bluntly, sweeping the forest with his eyes, and finding nothing. He unfolded his arm and flexed his hand, a bit of a nervous habit. "Besides, we're just waiting time standing here." Wasting a second, he clenched his fists and dashed into the forest. "Just try to keep up!" He called back to his teammates, and continued running through the forest, looking for his teacher. The fact of the matter was that time was of the essence, and he had the perfect jutsu to pull off a capture.

Akemi's hands inched impatiently towards the weapon pouch on her lower back. Gritting her teeth in annoyance as time ticked down, Akemi glanced into the forest. The girl barely heard any of the little detail Hanako-sensei gave on the punishment. Not that she really cared. All she waited for was the answer to her question. The woman's response to the hot shot went through one ear and out the other as she questioned just what was hiding in that forest. This was a good and a bad thing. The disadvatages were high. Unseen interference for most if not all of her weapons were everywhere. Trees that could block throws, branches that would slow the momentum of a swing, and even smaller things could tangle up her steel wire's usage.
Akemi finally shot her attention at Hanako with wide eyes when her response finally came. They were going after her? The hell could they manage to do against her? The girl tensed and glanced to her teammates. With the situation it was becoming more and more difficult to keep up her hopes and resolve. Still, Captain Genjutsu and Hot Shot weren't backing down so neither was she! A frown marred her features and her heart drummed against her chest, but her resolve set itself once more. However, she was so distracted by her nerves that when the signal to start came she stalled. A perfect chance to at least try to tangle up the woman was lost as she disappeared in an instant. She seethed in her spot for missing such an easy opening. Even if it could, and most likely would, have missed she should have taken it.
Now what? Time seemed short already when she realized that they needed to tackle their own sensei. Four hours may as well have been four days and they could still very well fail in the venture. Stuttered words broke her mind from that trail of thought. Captain Genjutsu was right. A plan, they needed a plan. 'Find the lady, bum rush her, and take her down' came into mind first, but Akemi didn't want to voice it. It was obvious that they'd have to do that, but it sounded much easier than it was. She combed her thoughts for any other suggestions, but came up with nothing. Falling back on her original thought, she tried to take out the logical side of it. Stay together and attack as one or something, sounded smart and doable. If they failed then they could just rinse and repeat for four hours.
Akemi's mouth opened to blurt it out, but she was suddenly interrupted by Hot Shot. She glared holes into him as he just dismissed the ideal completely. Sure they couldn't plan it out, but even she could see a general idea helping them work together. Then to her utter shock, he just rushed off. This not only threw the girl for a loop, it stuck her more competitive side. What was he trying to do, take the woman on her own!? He thought they couldn't keep up!? HE THOUGHT SHE COULDN'T KEEP UP!? The mind raged. "I'm not losing to him!" She thought furiously. Turning back to... Sir Sweaty, she noticed from his state she spoke in a rush. "We'll just rush her together! COME ON!" She raged before spriting off after Hothead.
Though skinny looking Akemi wasn't such a pushover. She rushed after the boy full force attempting to not only to catch up and match his speed, but pass him up. One hand latched onto her sword tightly to keep it from moving as her other arm pumped furiously. The fox mask bounced against her back, but it didn't bother her. Her eyes darted about looking for any leads or markings that their sensei could have left for them to follow.

Looks like they started moving. Though I don't think They get it just yet. With that thought in mind Hanako moved once again. Fast and hidden from sight she got ahead of the two that went in first. After She had gotten just far enough ahead of them Hanako jabbed a kunai into a tree trunk. After that she moved away from it and hid herself. And now to start off the fun with a little cover. Hanako made a simple hand seal and soon the area started to fill with a thick mist. "Kirigakure no Jutsu" She spoke quietly and softly so not to be heard and found.
Now Hanako leaned up against this tree as she did that one before while she was waiting for them to move. Now a waiting game. She thought as she wated to hear the sound of movement or to sense their chakra getting closers to that Kunai she left in the trunk.

Things had gone much the way Kyomu had imagined, his team had bolted off without any plan of action leaving him quite alone and quite in the open. Despite what he had expected though, they were not in fact decimated as soon as they entered the trees, which meant their sensei probably had something all the more ingenious planned for them. I KNEW this would happen! Now what am I supposed to do!? Left with little choice Kyomu broke into a run after them, but starting off so far behind he quickly lost sight of them, in the trees he couldn't even see them in the distance and the mist didn't help much either. Hold on... this is... Kyomu immediately skidded to a stop and glanced around. 'Kirigakure no Jutsu...' he muttered, thinking out loud, 'Hayashi-sensei must be close... so then I can't be as far behind as I thought...'
Not that the knowledge helped him at all, he was still separated from his team and if he so much as called out then the Jounin would most likely be first to swoop in on him and that wouldn't bode at all well even if all three of them were together. What then could he do? In such mist it would be near impossible to focus on a target to initiate a genjutsu and he wasn't nearly so arrogant as to think that he could catch his sensei unaware. Those were his only options though, what more could he do alone? Surely the answer was nothing, but what would his team think of him if he were just to give in because of a little mist? They had all grown up in this, it shouldn't have hampered them.
Clenching his fists and swallowing hard he stepped back out into the swirling mist, proceeding carefully, aiming not to catch his team, only to follow the signs of their passing and stay on them. Best case scenario he would be able to take Hayashi-sensei unawares as she swept in on Mitsuko and Akemi. Worst case scenario... well, it didn't bear thinking about. We're going to get thrashed in here, dunno why I'm even trying to prevent it...

As he darted off to capture his sensei, Mitsuko heard a bit of what the smallest of his team was saying. He was already too far in to hear the beginning, but the end of it was loud enough for him to catch. Her loud battle cry echoed into the small forest and he quickly noted that she was very rash and bold. But on to more pressing matters, he kept his eyes peeled for Hayashi-sensei. One moment, even a second of inattentiveness could leave him face flat in the dirt and humiliated instantly in front of his peers. Both of which were unacceptable. Both of which would not happen if he could help it. No chance he would be the first to be taken out by his sensei.
While his head swiveled from side to side, his ears were the first to pick up a sign of life besides a squirrel or bird. Shit, she's behind me? His mind when into panic mode immediately, and he turned his head to find out who the fast steps behind him belonged to. To Mitsuko's utter surprise and relief the ninja behind him wasn't the feared older jounin he was expecting; instead, it was the firey Akemi, coming up on him rather quickly. His face held a look that, as it rarely does, reflected his true emotion. The boy was completely in shock. The expression was a combination of relief and surprise, with his bright blue eyes unnaturally widened.
While having a teammate next to him, specifically the less talented one, would not generally be that big of a problem, it happened to be this time around. Having Akemi by his side should actually be a good thing, because he would look good in comparison, even if he performed poorly. The complication was that she had caught up with him. Not only that, she had accomplished that task rather quickly, despite the fact that he had gotten a head start on the girl. Clearly he had underestimated her speed, which was not entirely his fault, as she didn't look the part of a speed demon. Mitsuko raised an eyebrow as they ran parallel to each other and ran fast enough to keep pace with the girl.
"Oh? Looks like you're kinda quick..."He was rendered speechless at her sudden burst of speed, and he could hardly comprehend what was going on. How...? I've never seen someone like her be able to keep up with me. He turned his head forward, and figured he would need to prove his superiority in this aspect too. But getting in a race in the middle of training session would be absolute suicide, especially since we don't know where sensei is. Not only that, I'll get worn out and I'm gonna need all my energy to even have a shot at beating Hayashi-sensei. But I can't just let Akemi beat me... Mitsuko debated back and forth the pros and cons of racing the girl. This was one of those decisions he had a hard time making.
Shit...I can't let her think she can top me. It's risky, but I've gotta do it. As they boy cleared a small log, he prepared himself for a sprint. But suddenly, the mist began to pick up, and eventually got to the point where it had to be Kirigakure no Jutsu. Mitsuko immediately slammed on the brakes and stopped in his tracks, panting. Whether Akemi continued on or not was up to her, but he'd likely need to prove that he was faster at a later date. He controlled his breathing so it wasn't so loud, and stayed completely still. And then a thought occurred to him. If he stayed defensive and waited for her to make a move on either him or Akemi, he could counter it. So he elected to stay still, not minding the position of either of his teammates. He would not lose the same move a third time. He knew what to do now.
Still, suddenly losing one's sight did strike fear and paranoia into the boy. The fact remained that Hanako had the upper hand, and they were completely defenseless. Perhaps it would have been best to stop with Akemi, so that they could more easily defend themselves. However, he quickly swept that thought from his mind. Not an option. I need to do this solo. I'll prove myself worthy of the Subeki name. I'll make you proud, dad! He pulled a kunai from his pocket, and held it in a defensive stance, trying to be as silent as possible.

As Akemi barreled through the forest she spared a glance behind her. However, instead of seeing a certain third member of their team her sight was greeted by nothing more than empty space. Trees blurred by as she continued to dash after the hotshot who seemingly wanted the tackle their sensei by himself. Ducking under a branch and hurdling over a log that happened to stretch across her running path the girl then took another glance behind her. Not even she was aware of just why she did so when nothing had been there the first time. It could have been from the slight hope hope that the last member would have caught up or she had missed him the first glance. Then again, it could have also been from the slight worry that came knowing that they were at a huge disadvantage. Still, despite the cause the fact remained that there was still no sign of the sweaty genius teammate. The realization that they'd either left him behind or he chose not to follow wasn't a pleasant one and made way for other worries to invade her thoughts.
Turning back to the hotshot, who was still in the lead despite her rapid rate of gaining on him, then tried to focus. But even as she finally began to catch up it was only a half-hearted victory. The great majority of the accomplishment was taken away by the fact that they would still need to face their sensei with a potentially helpful ally missing. In Akemi's mind the only chance they had was to attack her all at once and hope they managed to get lucky enough to overwhelm her. This situation wasn't what she had intended for by running off after the hotshot. She had only served to help them separate. It was like she had chosen this side over his. Not only that...what if the boy had already been picked off? The notion was unsettling to say the least. "How could I have been so stupid!" She cried out in her mind with anguish. Within the realm of her mind a smaller, childish form of herself ran around in circles. Rivers of tears flowed from her eyes as she wailed in a panic. Her arms jutted out into the air and failed with reckless abandon.
The stray comment on her speed as she finally caught up to the hotshot pulled her from her pool of worry. "This is nothing," she spoke with what might have bee obvious bravo. She struggled to regain control of her breathing after the mere three words. Though the hotshot was about to jump out of his skin a moment ago. Her eyes narrowed and she looked at him out the corners of her eyes. Still, she wouldn't call him out on it if he kept his mouth shut. Besides, she was fine. Okay, that was a lie. Akemi would quickly wear herself out if she tried any harder than this. She had to sprint extra hard just to catch up. The girl didn't know if she could muster up the energy to outright pass him even if they didn't have to conserve some strength for challenging their sensei.
Another sideways glance fell on the hotshot. Maybe he'd start lagging by himself or trip or something? However, instead the girl found her own speed faultering as the mist rolled in from almost nowhere within a matter of seconds. And a thick mist it was. The mist made it difficult to see a tree only a few feet away. She wasn't a genius, but this didn't seem to scream normal in her book. The damp air made her skin crawl and her nerves were set on edge by the rising fear of what could happen. "Am I just gonna get picked off like the genjutsu captain?" She gritted her teeth and looked for any signs. "Not without a fight!" Still, her courage was shakey at best. No signs of a ninja besides the hotshot could be seen either.
"Just relax," she told herself. "Remember your studies..." but to her horror, she found her mind blank of any prior knowledge. The small girl took a few steps back until she came closer to the hotshot. The thought of making herself an obvious target terrified her. The girl was embarrassed to see her hands shaking worse than her courage. To keep them from revealing her fear she took a firm grip of her sword's hilt. She wasn't afraid. She just had to focus. The mist was nothing different from darkness right and the night was a ninja's best ally. Her breathing came out harshly as her focus on keeping it controlled wavered. Then she shook her head, trying to get a hold of herself. "FOCUS, DAMMIT!"
She crouched slightly, scanning the area while keeping the hotshot visible in the corner of her eyes. She read the books. A favored tactic was to pick one enemy off and strike while the other was in shock over the death or disappearance. Well, it was one of them anyway. Akemi couldn't afford to hesitate, she had to be ready. Slowly, her hands slid away from her sword to the two weapon holsters on her thighs. With a flick of her finger, she popped them open. The sound was like thunder in the clearing because of the sudden silence that had fallen. Her hands hovered over them and she gulped. "I thought we were the ones that were hunting her..." she said in a hushed, but still audible voice.

Hanako's mist had cared a good deal of the area giving her the at home feeling. No doubt it had a different effect on the genin who were supposed to be hunting her. Maybe she should have explained the whole lesson, but doing it this way meant it would be a better learning experience. If she had told them what to expect they wouldn't learn anything. Two close to each other without being together, and one lagging behind. I guess the skipped any class of Teamwork in the classroom. Hanako's thought to herself as she moved slowly and silently among the tree in the mist.
She listened for any signs of movement toward her, but so far it seemed they were waiting for her to make the first move. He who strikes first will not win. she looked up at the tree. But SHE who scares will take victory. With that thought she jumped up to a branch on a near by tree. From here she could make some noise to hopefully throw them off their senses.
She began moving from tree to tree stopping for only a few seconds at a time to whistle loud enough for them to hear and then stop to move again. A strange thing to do, but Hanako wanted to know how they would react to such an act. Would they try anything, or would they remain as they are.

There! That sound! That was where she was! No, over there, now there... Either she's using a Bunshinjutsu or much more likely given that she already used Kirigakure no jutsu, she's trying to unnerve us.... and its working. I can't tell where she's going to pop up next. There's hardly any pattern in her movement. As if that wasn't bad enough, I'm the most logical of targets as she can blind side me without fear of being spotted by the other two. Steeling himself for the task ahead, trying his utmost to keep his breathing and his pounding heart in line, he backed himself up against the trunk of a nearby tree so as not to be taken unaware from behind. Drawing a handful of shuriken he held them up and ready in his right hand, listening as his sensei continued prancing about in the trees.
Sighing heavily he moved off towards where he'd last heard Hanako move, as it happened (unbeknownst to him) this also took him closer to Mitsuko and Akemi, though they were still well out of sight of each other in the thick mist. In any case he had more pressing things on his mind, he knew this jutsu himself, that meant if he just focussed he ought to be able to find a flaw in it. As long as he used his eyes they would be confused by the mist, hesitantly he closed his eyelids, plunging himself into absolute darkness. In any ordinary battle this would have been suicide, but from the position which he had previously been in it wasn't that much of a step. Whether or not it was a step in the right direction, only time would tell. This is insane...
There was the sound! Hanako had just touched down on another branch, having abandoned his effectively crippled sense of sight Kyomu used the sound as a sign post, he drew back his arm and then paused. What if...? The chances were slim to none but what if he actually hit her? The mist was this thick... she couldn't possibly... she'd never see it coming. Then, if he hesitated, if he failed what would happen to him, to the team? Unbeknownst to him his hand had begun to quiver and his breathing had picked up, he only became aware when the shaking in his hand intensified. The sound of Hanako landing again jarred him to action and he immediately loosed his shuriken in the direction of the sound, he regretted the action just as quickly. This is insane, it wont hit... and I just gave away my position. His eyes snapped open expecting the imposing figure of his sensei to come striding out of the fog to claim him. Damn.

Mitsuko's eyes shifted quickly over to the girl beside him. Guess I'm just lucky. Usually the presence of another there who had the possibility to steal the glory from him, but of course, this was an exception. There was something vaguely...comforting about having a teammate by his side. So perhaps for a while he'd drop the idea that everyone was an enemy for a more amiable attitude. Or maybe that would just last until he had his opportunity to strike. Which was the plan, after all. A ninja was a solo act, and therefore, he was too. No need to complicate things with morality. Life was as simple as that.
Narrowing his focus in the mist had become almost second nature to the boy. Well, as close to second nature as something like that could be. It was disconcerting, but he had one-up on his two teammates in the experience category, he figured. In his mind, the goal here was as much a competition between the three genin for favor in the eyes of their sensei as it was an exercise to develop their skills as ninja. But as soon as he entered a state of complete and total fixation, a loud click from right next to him caught his attention. For a split second, he thought it was Hanako.
To Mitsuko's relief, it was simply Akemi unbuckling her holsters. Her hands had moved from her sword's hilt to her other weapons, and the shaking of her hands in transit hadn't been caught by the young boy. He did note that she seemed to have a plethora of them, or at least more than he carried on his person. They were clunky and loud though, and she was making far too much noise for their own good, and to top it all off, she had even begun talking. She did have the sense to whisper though, and Mitsuko felt sure that the jounin wasn't any sort of canine-human hybrid. "Scared?" He remarked bluntly, but quietly. The answer wasn't of any interest to him, though.
Now he was sure that it was time to make up. Still, his previous escapades had taught him some caution. A few quick hand motions and his chant of "Misu Bunshin." brought about the rise of a water clone, who, without hesitation, darted off towards the last place where heard that whistle. Mitsuko had recalled his training with Hayashi-sensei, and this tactic was no different than the kunai. And then again, neither was his. But with Akemi next to him, things might play out differently. He had to hope that his clone would come across his sensei, and their engagement would tell him where she was. Mitsuko shifted his focus to the chakra of his clone. As soon as it slipped, he would know what to do.

A deep sense of paranoia crept into her thought and Akemi’s head shifted from side to side. It didn’t do much though. Everything remained the same. Mist was everywhere, so think she couldn’t make out much of anything. She could feel eyes on her. The invisible gaze made her skin crawl. Was it Hanako? Her head jerked to the side where she felt the eyes on her. No, just her teammate. A shadow of a smile graced her features for a moment. The young kunoichi had almost forgot he was there. And the fact that he was gave her a bit of hope. The smile quickly shifted to a scowl though at his mocking jibe at her. The temptation of throwing a kunai right between his legs was very tempting. Then she’d ask him if he was scared. However, she refrained. If one good thing had come out the shot he’d taken it was that the word made her much more enraged than scared.
“Scared? Nah, just worried you won’t be able to keep up, Hotshot,” she muttered back forcefully as not to be too loud. Alas, her anger made her rather dismissive of the whistling sounds that originated from their sensei so she noticed them a little late. Only after a bunshin from her ally had rushed off did the sounds managed to catch her attention. As much as she wanted to fling as many weapons as she could at the sound, but that wouldn’t be the wisest idea. Then again, she had never really been “wise” before…
Taking a deep breath and holding it, the girl waited. The pattern soon became clear. She had the accuracy, she was sure of it. The chance that their sensei was staying stationary more than a few seconds was slim to none though. With a simple movement she pulled a kunai and four shuriken from her holsters. The best she could do was make them converge on that one point from three different directions. If she was lucky she could score a hit even if it would slow the woman down. Then a sudden idea hit her. “Or maybe…” A smile graced her features as she slipped out an explosive note and wrapped it around her kunai.
Now to wait for it…
“There!” A throw with one hand send the kunai went flying. Then a moment later her other hurled the handful of shuriken The kunai was set to detonate only a moment after it touched the tree the woman landed on. However, the shuriken would get caught in the explosion which would hopefully scatter them. Bonus if they acutally shattered. Nothing like shrapnel to catch someone off guard. While still throwing blind and the lucky hit factor was still the same it was more unorthodox. That…and Akemi just liked explosions.
"We should probably change positions now..." she spoke up hesitating. She told herself that she hesitated because she didn't want to leave Mitsuko behind, but the lingering fear of her getting picked off while alone wasn't forgotten.
