Name: Misuto Subeki
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Village: Hidden Mist (Kirigakure)
Rank: Genin
Nature Manipulation: Water
Appearance: Standing at 5'4 and 150 pounds, Misuto is about average for his age, if not slightly taller and heavier than most. All 150 pounds are spread evenly into his surprising muscular frame. Although he has a slight frame, he has relatively broad shoulders and as decent an amount of muscle one could hope for at that age. His hair is a pale, powdery blue color which one could call misty if they like, as is the norm for most in his family. It is long, spikey, and unkempt, and hangs down past his chin on the sides. In the front a few long bangs jut forward in an unkempt clump, while one choice bang lays flat on his forehead, going from right to left in the middle of his head. From the back of his head, the hair extends downwards to the top of either shoulder, but does not continue past the head in the middle. His headband is worn under his hair and angled up and to the right. While mostly hidden, its shine can be seen in sunlight. Somedays he rotates the band as he sees fit, for the hell of it.
As for the clothing, Mitsuko wears a rather form-fitting, black, long-sleeved shirt, with the mist's symbol printed largely on the back. The shirt has a collar that extends to his Adam's apple, and has the same powder blue trim and lining as the rest of the shirt. The collar, sleeves, and torso parts all have buttons on them, that can be released to allow a greater range of movement, and because Mitsuko thinks it looks cool to do before a fight. He dawns matching black pants, which are loose enough to allow for a good range of movement. He wears typical shinobi sandals, though in a powder blue shade. His feet are bandaged lightly for nothing more than the comfort of it.
His eyes are a slightly darker hue of his hair's color, and while his personality belies it, his eyes quiver with uncertainty if one takes the time to study them. Overall, his walk clearly shows how highly he thinks of himself. Hands at his sides or in his pockets, chin elevated ever so slightly, and a rhythm and bounce to each step; all things that contribute to his precious swagger. His limbs are fairly long, and his wingspan extends a few inches greater than his height. On the back of Mitsuko's left hand is the number 27, in roman numerals (XXVII). The back of his neck bears the mist symbol, while tattooed onto his back is "Guardian" in kanji, his left shoulder reads "Hero" and his right has "Harbinger", which are all symbols placed on him as a young boy by his family. He has a small powder blue pouch on his right hip for shuriken, and several kunai are tied to his waist, hidden by his shirt.
Personality: Mitsuko instantly gives off an air of arrogance, as if surrounded by an aura of calm confidence and a certainty in his abilities that most genin do not display. It is this appearance that has gained him the attention of his teachers, envy of many students, and the ire of most of his other peers. Most, if asked to define the boy, would choose this aspect as the one that most reflected. In fact, not many actually know anything of him past that outer layer. Which isn't particularly their fault, considering that the Subeki's pride and joy remains very distant from his fellow Kirigakure inhabitants. The reason for his introversion clearly isn't a result of shyness or lack of self esteem, but instead the result of his upbringing. The way Mitsuko acts is simply the way he was taught to be, not the way he actually would like to. He is required by his father to carry himself in a superior way, and to keep all relationships minimal and shallow. The reasoning behind all of the act is that by not relying on others and seeming very cool and confident, he will maximize the amount of glory that can be obtained for his family's sake. The discrepancy between Mitsuko's own personality and the one he is required to display is not as obvious, however.
Underneath the blatantly cocky and off-putting attitude that is the viewable portion of the boy, lies a part of him that he can never show. He is shockingly caring and kind, in fact, he secretly weighs the safety of others higher than any mission or objective. Unbeknownst to most, he takes it quite personally when people comment on his "arrogance", and it leads to small fits of depression on occasion. Ironically, one of his truly defining traits is his lack of confidence, which is easy to see for the exceptionally perceptive person. The young genin has no confidence in his ability as a ninja, his potential to regain his family's honor, or in his worth as a person. While the entire Subeki clan, his family, and his peers frequently remind him of his talent and potential, he remains unconvinced. The occasional reminders of how much of a jerk he is to others also leave him with the impression that he is genuinely a bad person, and a negative impact on those around him. Though his act is still rather ineffective, it works well enough for the time being, as the only people Mitsuko really needs to keep in the dark are his peers, who would not normally be counted among the "exceptionally perceptive".
A key feature in any aspect of life, but particularly in the path of the shinobi, is heart. Most ninja have something they wish to protect, or to prove, or some otherwise life-fulfilling and personally satisfying goal that they hope to accomplish by becoming ninja. Mitsuko's only purpose for pursuing the fame and glory of being a shinobi is just that; the fame and glory. Now if it was for himself things might be different, but the fact that it is for his father and family leave the boy with a certain lack of desire. While not too severe, in cases where he could give a little more effort, or push when the going gets tough, he tends to call it quits. Mitsuko doesn't consciously view it as a lack of effort on his part, he just seems to give up quicker than others. Even so, he has a genuine pride in Kirigakure and has some dedication to it, and likewise feels the same pride in his family, and takes insults directed towards either one to heart.
It is when there's a choice to be made between keeping up his persona for the sake of his family or acting upon his own morals and principles that cause him to struggle. In his current state, he would be most likely to choose the former rather than the latter. The pressure heaped upon the boy from a young age are the reasons why his personality has shaped into what it is, and pretty much the reason he does just about anything. Their expectations of him are ridiculously high, and his fear of disappointing them is the primary cause for his shakiness and lack of confidence. This also shows itself in another unexpected way; battle. Mitsuko lacks decisiveness when presented with options that do not contain an obvious answer or some choice that would cause him to garner more attention than any other. That quality doesn't bode well for his hopes of fame, as a leader typically has the ability to make decisions quickly, as opposed to overthinking as Mitsuko often does. The fact that he also is not much of a strategist makes that inability quite a problem for the young genin. But his persona has given him some benefit here: his ruthlessness act is one of his better ones, albeit amongst some immature child acting. The boy does a great job playing the part of the bloodthirsty killer from the Mist.
While he does possess many disturbing personality and identity issues for a young boy, Mitsuko has many quirks. As a child, he wasn't allowed to socialize and thus is unaware of many simple things that all kids should know. He has no knowledge of childhood games, and various other simple things. Despite the attention he receives for his talents and his stellar performances in the academy, he wishes, deep down, that he could escape it all. The Subeki's latest attempt at grandeur would much rather find some corner to hide in as opposed to basking in the lime light. The pressure from his family bears down hard on him, and reveals itself in most all aspects of his life. Any additional pressure put on him would likely cause him to buckle and collapse under his own securities. Whether he would allow it or not, Mitsuko would be best served by a supporting group of friends and people to share his burden with, but the personality he is required to uphold as well as his own insecurities keep him from venturing into the world or doing anything other than what is required of him, which means that he rarely goes out with friends or does anything that would vaguely represent fun to any other children his age.

History: The Subeki have always been a great clan for breeding shinobi. Most every generation, the Subeki have many from their ranks joining the ninja academy. However, someone forgot to tell them that quality matters more than quantity. In fact, the "27" branded onto Mitsuko's hand is actually the number of consecutive Subeki that failed to move past the rank of genin. Needless to say, the clan is mocked for its frequent failures and their overall lack of talent. Mitsuko's father, Ogichi, happened to be a very prideful man. While he is well aware of the shame of his family, he still remains prideful of it, and held out hope that perhaps his children would be the ones to break through the mold of lackluster performances by his relatives. No longer, he thought, would every application by the Subeki be treated as a joke. No more laughs, no more half-wit ninja.
Finally, that sign of hope was brought into the world by Ogichi and his wife, Karin. Mitsuko, a young boy, was to be the savior of his clan. He had no say in it either. It was predestined, a fate given to him by his father and a burden he would be required to carry for the remainder of his life. His father and mother gave him all the love in the world, but his dad made sure to temper that love with training, discipline, and lessons at an early age. Given, advice from a loser wasn't much, but it was something and he figured it would help Mitsuko. And right away, he showed promise and the affinity for all things shinobi. When he entered the ninja academy, his father decided to tattoo him so that he would never forget what his duty was. The "XXVII" on his right hand, while "Hero", "Guardian", and "Harbinger" adorned his left shoulder, back, and right shoulder respectively.
After the painful inking, which his mother thoroughly opposed, Ogichi explained to him what each mark meant. While inwardly daunted, young Mitsuko gave an outward response of confidence. The boy flew through the academy with little to no trouble at all. He was good at genjutsu and strategy, and excelled in ninjutsu and taijutsu. His prowess was weaponry was very impressive at that age as well. The one mark on his record was that he refused to work with anybody, or even listen. He'd begun developing an attitude of cockiness. Still, he passed with flying colors. Students had become amazed with his abilities, and even teachers took note of his potential. And so with the heavy burden of saving a clan's reputation, Mitsuko graduated to a genin, with a level of talent that the Subeki had never had before.
RP Sample: Let's see... Mitsuko scanned the area, tallying his fallen victims. Kunai to the head, that's one. Crushed skull, two... He surveyed the clearing, and did some simple math. He was surrounded on all sides by dense trees, which, by his calculations, still held seven enemies. Not a problem. Genin? Yes. Badass? Hell yeah. He stood tall in the open space, with a proud smirk that was so typical of him. The young mist ninja folded his arms and awaited an enemy to make a move. Suddenly, three kunai flew from behind him. He knew they were coming, but he also knew it would not be nearly as cool to seem well-prepared for it. Mitsuko waited a bit, just a couple fractions of a second. Then, he slyly pulled a kunai and carelessly deflected the kunai away from his body.
Phew... The last of the daggers had nearly hit him. In fact, it hit the handle of his own kunai knife while he was busy deflecting the other one. Lucky, yet again. If he had not taken the time to decide what was the better looking of his options, he likely would have easily blocked them. No more taking chances. So when one enemy appeared behind him, he turned and fired his kunai, stabbing it in the chest. A jumping kick to the head sent the opponent flying, finishing it. Six more. Another appeared in front of him, and he quickly encased it in his personal favorite, the Water Prison Jutsu. With a smirk, he released the prison and gave a heavy punch to the face, knocking the enemy to a ground. This time, a large amount of shuriken were launched at him from the left. "Water Style: Violent Water Wave!" His hand signs came together quickly, and water gushed from his mouth and deflected the projectiles.
As the large wave settled and receded back towards Mitsuko, his enemies washed up with it. He counted them. He had taken them all out, seven powerful enemy...straw dummies. While the feat itself was not impressive, the way he did it was. "Excellent my boy! You might save us yet." His father exclaimed, tackle-hugging his young son and rubbing his hair. "Yeah yeah." Mitsuko replied. "I've done this like a thousand times, dad. No big deal." His dad grinned, and the two headed back for dinner. Another day, yet another excellent day of training for the promising young man. the future was looking bright, and his destiny was about to be fulfilled.
Notes: While he is very skilled in taijutsu, a big reason for it is that he is longer and stronger than most genin at his age. Essentially, his technique is slightly lacking but is covered by his physical gifts. He is exceptionally gifted physically, blessed with good speed and quickness along with his strength. Likewise, he possesses a good deal of chakra, though certainly not a ridiculous amount. His control is excellent, which makes it his favorite way to fight. While he could be proficient at genjutsu, he seems to lack the interest and diligence. His favorite move is the Water Prison, as it allows for taunting and receives cool points. He has shown interest in advanced mist weaponry, something he looks to advance in very quickly. While he is not ridiculously good in any one area, it's his great ability to mix all methods of fighting smoothly throughout a battle, and can adapt to his opponents style well.
