Clan Name: Kagami Clan
Clan Village: Kirigakure no Sato
Clan History: The Kagami were one of the lesser founding families of Kirigakure and have existed in the village in one form or another since its founding. Though not particularly prominent as a source of Shinobi in its early years that was all to change with the rise of Kiyoshi Kagami said to be one of the greatest shinobi of his day, his fame rose to such a level that Nidaime Mizukage elevated the family to Clan status. Following a series of political marriages the family expanded and gained much prominence within the village. As legend has it Kiyoshi died fighting the Sanbi no Kyodaigame, trapping it in a Genjutsu so it could be sealed to create the first Sanbi Jinchuriki.
Perhaps the second most significant figure in the Clan's history was Kazuki Kagami who was, in his day, one of Kirigakure's finest ninja and yet never graced the ranks of Kiri's Seven Swordsmen. While other members of the unit under Yondaime Mizukage tended towards brutality Kazuki was regarded as a good and merciful man, as such he never attracted the tyrant's eye other than as a potential threat. In combination with the sword he wielded this earned him the name of The Broken Blade of Kirigakure, originally a defamatory title Kazuki took well to it and his consideration for friend and foe alike made it a well-respected name in the other four nations. When he retired from life as an active shinobi he was given the position of Clan Leader, not one he looked for, but one he took to very well, one he conducted with dignity and wisdom.
Clan Leader: Kazuki Kagami
Clan Members:
Kyomu Kagami
Notes
The direct descendants of Kiyoshi Kagami are easily identifiable by their blue tinted hair, though other family members dye theirs to be more easily identified with the Clan.
Jutsu
Name: Genkakuken no Jutsu (Illusion Blade Technique)
Classification: C-Rank Genjutsu
Effect: A fairly simple Genjutsu taught within the Kagami Clan which allows the user to interfere with the sensory input of those within their line of sight though it does not require actual eye contact. The ability requires a continuous stream of chakra to function and while it doesn't necessitate a held hand seal a great deal of concentration is required to maintain it while moving.
Because of this it is usually used in concert with team members or only in short bursts. What the technique actually does is create a lapse between sensory input and cognition, meaning that the target will perceive things only after they have happened, being that this is quite the feat the lapse created is a split second (advanced users increase the lapse closer to that of a full second,) however for a gifted combatant this is more than enough to take advantage of. Additionally this jutsu makes dodging much more difficult and a target may fall victim to an attack which they thought they had avoided.
The ability itself applies to all parties in combat, unless consciously excluded from the technique by the user, making the user appear to all to be much faster than they actually are.
Exclusive: Though it is taught exclusively in the Kagami Clan it could potentially be taught to any ninja with the proper Genjutsu skill.
Notes: Obviously the jutsu is ineffectual against those wielding a Byakugan or Sharingan but that aside it is notoriously difficult to detect, so much so that despite the not inconsiderable fame of the Clan it is virtually unknown of outside of Kirigakure. The technique takes its name from their tendency to incorporate it with Kenjutsu techniques. Though it is one of the basic techniques of the clan it is also probably the most versatile.
Name: Magen: Mizukappa Kyuushuu no Jutsu (Demonic Illusion: Water Kappa Revenge Technique)
Classification: B-Rank Genjutsu
Effect: As the jutsu begins the target sees several strange glyphs appear around their feet, from these glyphs rise pale blue hands with wrinkled and sagging clammy skin, these hands grab onto the target and drag them down to their knees, immobilizing them. A final hand rises up, pulling the target's head down and exposing the back of their neck. During the Shinobi Wars this technique was used to subdue and behead an enemy though as it can be used on multiple enemies it proves an effective stall or capture method or even just an effective means of psycological warfare.
Exclusive: (As above)
Notes: The jutsu can be released by ordinary means but as it mimics physical restriction a person with sufficient strength, raw chakra or willpower can break loose.
Name: Magen: Rinkai no Jutsu (Demonic Illusion: Critical Pressure Technique)
Classification: S-Rank Genjutsu / Kinjutsu*
Effect: One of the most powerful Genjutsu which exists within the Kagami Clan, the target is overcome by the feeling of being submerged in water, all they can see, feel or hear is the weight of a sea crushing down upon them. Outside of the Genjutsu their body is left completely helpless though it can be jarred out of the jutsu by ordinary means. (Though this excludes them releasing themselves as movement is entirely restricted.) Rather than persisting until broken or being maintained with a hand seal the technique works on a timed release proportional to the amount of chakra invested in the technique. The opponent's chakra also factors in, requiring a greater commitment to stop the technique being overpowered.
In certain extreme cases the user may also place the sum of their life energy in the technique, this warps the technique creating a Genjutsu which is nigh unbreakable from within and still very difficult to break from outside.
Physical pain will no longer awaken the target and only a very skilled Genjutsu practitioner can release the technique. For this reason Nidaime Mizukage named it a Kinjutsu and it is only used with great need.
Exclusive: Yes
Notes: The technique itself is not a Kinjutsu, however the practice of investing ones own life force in it is strictly forbidden. It was this technique which Kiyoshi Kagami used to help seal the Sanbi no Kyodaigame, sacrificing his life and securing his Clan's future in the process.
