Jun sighed as he attempted the leaf cutting exercise. This was the exercise he was told that wind users were supposed to begin training their element with. The problem was that because they were on an island surrounded by water they didn’t have many varieties of tree’s. “Someone PLEASE remind me why I’m using a Palm Tree branch for this?!” He yelled onto the empty beach and over the vacant bay. The yell cascaded through the choppy sea outside the bay.
He’d picked this location so he’d get some peace and quiet while he trained to achieve mastery over the element that people of his homeland were known of. The soft sandy beach reminded him of what he remembered of his time at home training with his brother. The smell of the sea however that reminded him that his home was here, in the mist. If he were returned to Suna he would out of duty and out of a ever so slight desire to take care of his nephew like he ought.
‘I would forever miss the sea though. She may be the planet’s harshest mistress but I love her all the same. I love her and the bounty that can be drawn from her breast. The animals that grow and flourish nestled in her womb. The Fauna that draws it’s very life-breath from her. I love each part of her in a way that to lose her would be the same as if I lost my wife should I gain one. Speaking of a wife I need to start looking. Though father is dead he’d be disappointed if I didn’t even try to fulfill my duty to the clan. Not entirely my fault though. Being ANBU means I don’t get much time for a social life,’ This made him pause for a moment even to himself.
‘Perhaps… perhaps it’s time I go the way of so many ANBU before me and retire from ANBU to the rank of Elite Jounin. I know I haven’t been ANBU long, approaching 4 years in a couple months. ANBU has it’s uses and they are nearly spent. First, it allowed me to build a close working relationship with many of this villages greatest shinobi even if they don’t know exactly who I am behind my mask. Second, being former ANBU carries a great amount of respect even if I cannot reveal my codename, respect I would be unable to attain as a foreigner who was transplanted here. Thirdly, it granted me experience that allows me to far outclass many who would be my better had they more experience. Finally, I’ve reached the point that the stress of being ANBU and constantly being on edge for an attack even while nestled deep in the heart of Water country is beginning to dull the edge. A weapon should never become dull and thus I must retire so that I can re-hone my edge and become a weapon for my kage once more.’ Jun decided.
He would leave ANBU to become one of the Elite public faces of Kirigakure. He would do his job with his own reputation growing with each successful mission. He wouldn’t blend in with the faceless elite any longer. It was time for the enemies of the mist to meet Jun Li, and he wasn’t about to disappoint. They would expect an elite who was well versed in multiple forms of combat. His training in ANBU had given him excellent taijutsu as well as kenjutsu experience. It was time to perfect his arsenal and do what he should have done when he was granted his Jounin Vest, gain his second nature. It could only make him a more lethal weapon for his nation and he would kill, no pun intended, to gain such power to strike fear into those weaker than he who had the cause to fear him. He didn’t expect true international recognition. However, being known by those smart enough to pay attention to his deeds would be nice. It would also go a long way towards fully establishing the Li clan in Kiri.
‘Thinking of the Li clan, I wonder how Brother’s son is doing, Shouten wasn’t it? Didn’t he just graduate from the Academy? It is about the year he would have graduated if I’m thinking of when I got the news of his birth correctly. I think it’s about time I got back in contact with the Suna family and found out when he’ll be going to the Chuunin exams. I can’t let my brother’s son be there without me watching. Plus rumor has it that the upcoming exams will be in Konoha which would be… interesting, to say the least. I just hope that he’s smart enough to stay away from the Subaku family, especially the youngest one, Gaara of the Desert. If he’s at the exams Shouten will have to be extra careful not to run into him during stage 2.’ He thought, his mind almost excited at the prospect of seeing his nephew fight.
‘Now, back to the branch,’ He thought shaking his head in an effort to shake the digressing thoughts as he removed a leaf from the palm. It was long and tougher than most leaves and that would lend extra difficulty to an already difficult task. ‘In order to make this work I have to make my chakra into a blade itself. From what I know the type of blade doesn’t matter. Only that it cuts smoothly. He speculated with himself. Many ninja thought it best to think of the chakra as a sharp wedge. He thought otherwise. When he thought about a smooth blade that was able to easily cut almost any organic matter he thought about a scalpel. Thus he was attempting to turn his chakra into a thin slicing tool and guiding it through the leaf. He’d been attempting this for days but after his digression and later slight epiphany he refocused and managed an inch long incision in the leaf. It wasn’t much but it was a start and he WOULD succeed in his venture. Focusing once more he returned to his training.
