1) We here at Tale of the Tails know that showing off your RPing skill can be both fun and competitive. However, we ask that you respect every member of this site, no matter what their particular level of skill. Realize that without everyone else, this would be a site of monologues, along with a rather dull experience.
2) Profanity is not strictly censored here, whether it be in posts or on the chat box. However, please understand that this amount of freedom with your word choice is a privilege, not a right. If this rule must be changed because of immaturity, it will be.
3) We’d like all posts to have a clear purpose, and serve to contribute to what makes this site and its community great. Therefore, we will not tolerate spam on the boards. We are lenient when it comes to the chat box, but please avoid being completely obnoxious.
4) While we expect everyone on this board to be mature, we ask that you keep all content PG-13 at most. There are several members of this board that may be younger than you think, and many that simply have no desire to read things of a mature or sexual nature. Any content found to be unacceptable will be deleted, and action will be taken at the discretion of the staff.
5) God-Modding in any way, shape, or form will result in a punishment for the roleplayer in question, based on the severity of the offense. Essentially, you may not work your character so that they are completely unbeatable in a situation without cause. Your characters should all have flaws that any human would have, and their abilities should not be absolutely unbeatable.
6) Power Playing carries the same offense as God-Modding, and will be dealt with accordingly. In this case, you may not take control of a fellow roleplayer’s character in your own post without permission. Every member of this site has the right to portray their character as they wish, and no one is permitted to infringe upon this right. Along with God-Modding, this may be the most serious offense one may commit.
7) We ask that you maintain a certain quality while posting on this site. We realize that people of various skill levels will be joining, but we ask that all of you maintain a post length of at least 150 words. We believe this is a fairly easy number to hit, but we encourage you whole-heartedly to attempt to go further with your posts, and really impress us.
8) If you need to go on a leave of absence for any substantial period of time, we ask that you let us know in the appropriate board, private message/email a member of the staff, or both. Keeping track of who will be here helps us keep things going, and we’d thank you to make our job a bit easier by letting us know if you need to leave.
9) We ask that your character has no prior relationship to any canon character. Anything that would modify the background, personality, or abilities of a canon character will not be allowed.
10) The jutsu amount per character is as follows excluding any default techniques:
Genin: 4
Chuunin: 10
Jounin: 20
ANBU: 25
Kage: Unlimited
When it comes to rank, jutsu will be allowed based on the following criteria:
Academy Student: E
Genin: E, D, & C
Chuunin: E, D, C, & B
Jounin: E, D, C, B, & A
ANBU: E, D, C, B, & A
Kage: E, D, C, B, A, & S
11) We have a limit of two characters per person. Anybody who wishes to create any character after two must apply to the Staff and be approved for another character, based upon activity.
12) Clans may only be rejected thrice before your ability to create a clan is revoked. Characters can obviously be rejected and revised multiple times.
13) We would appreciate it if your character's name was vaguely Japanese. Please do so.
14) Any and all ships that involve a canon character will be heavily heavily reviewed before approved and watched as it proceeds to ensure that all involved are in character.
15) You cannot have two characters from the same village so as not to overpopulate or anything.
16) There's a limit to two threads at a time per character.
17) Any and all decisions by staff members are subject to reversal by the administrator if deemed necessary.
18) Because the exact nature of the Substitution Technique is left somewhat diffuse in Naruto, and is never fully explained, we are hereby limiting the number of times said technique may be used in battle. Substitution technique may only be used a maximum of one time per battle, so as to not lead to abuse of the fact that the exact way in which the technique works is never explained.
19) In a similar vein to the above, we have also attempted to focus in on exactly how Genjutsu works, as the show doesn't explain entirely. From this point on, it is now canon on the site that the basic details of a particular illusion caused by Genjutsu must be crafted by the user. This means that a Genjutsu cannot exist that merely "causes the enemy to see their greatest nightmare come to life". The user must be somewhat specific in what the victim will be seeing. However, as a result of the user's chakra infecting the senses of the target, the target is left unusually open to suggestion. This means that the target will fill in blanks where the user never intended. For example: When using Ephemeral, Itachi had no way of knowing what Sasuke's second Cursed Seal Form looked like. However, he knew that the Genjutsu would involve Sasuke. Naruto's own mind and memory of said form did the rest for Itachi, causing Naruto to see the aforementioned form. You would not define Ephemeral as a jutsu that "causes the target to see a horrifying vision". Rather, you would define it as a jutsu that Itachi crafted to specifically involve Sasuke.
(Edit 4/25/12: The rules have been updated. Of note is a modification of rule 10, and the addition of rules 18 and 19.)
(Edit 5/27/12: Added the mod approval to the character limit)
