Driago
Endriago stood atop one of the many pillars that covered the white castle that was the only visible sign of intelligent life in all of Hueco Mundo. Yes, it stood as a stark reminder that Hollow were capable and intelligent creatures when reborn at the hands of Aizen, and proof that they were capable of anything a Shinigami could do. It had become a sort of a competition between the two races, in actuality. The prideful Shinigami, who had barely any competition in the ranks of intelligence or power, had become a bit intimidated by the newly born Arrancar, and so whenever one of each race would clash, they would needlessly spout nonsense about which race was superior. Certainly every member of each of the factions felt that they were superior in every way, by birth, skill, intelligence and other things. Simply put, Driago believed that superiority was measured in another way, passion. Whoever placed more effort and importance on the battle was going to win, and skill mattered much less than the heart of the warrior.
Speaking of the Shinigami, it had been barely a week since the three of them, Utiha, Dep, and himself, had returned from their assault on Soul Society. Even though they were just hitting some tubes with some random things in them that Driago couldn't comprehend, they were told their job was very important. After a few moments of destruction, the Arrancar attack squad was met by three Shinigami, a Captain, Lieutenant, and a 3rd Seat. Begrudgingly, Endriago was matched up with the Lieutenant, Momo was her name, a young looking girl with brown hair. Going against everything he stood for, he initially refused to fight the girl, suggesting that she go help her Captain or subordinate, as her time there may have meaning. She turned down his offer, and rushed him, much to his dismay. It was going to be annoying, because he simply couldn't stab a young girl with his spear, it was against his persona.
Momo was clearly outmatched by him, even in his spear's shortened form. Her long range attacks, 'kidou', were potent, and definitely an irritation for him, but eventually she needed to release her shikai. In doing so, she gained many more range attacks, and proved to be an adequate warrior. Deciding that taking it easy would only cause the girl more trouble, he extended his spear to its battle length, and ended the battle with a decisive slash from her shoulder to her opposite ribcage. As she fell unconscious, he carried her out of the chemicals and other toxic elements of the research area and onto a roof, where he layed her down and sat, watching the battles of the other two. Content in the fact that he had beaten his opponent while only sustaining one moderate burn, a few minor ones, as well as a few small cuts, he wasn't surprised to see both Dep and Utiha beat their opponents handily.
While the weakest one trembled before Dep, incapable of hitting the quick and slippery gator, the Captain put up a bit more of a fight. Though his style proved to be a mismatch against Utiha, his effort and skill were respectable, and as expected, Utiha spared his life after defeating him. After returning successfully from their mission and receiving praise from Utiha, they all had their injuries treated, minor as they were. After a few days, Endriago was left to reflect upon his current standing with his team mates. While he figured himself to be the second strongest of the three, he had a feeling Dep thought otherwise. With the two of them being so close in manners of strength, he knew that it would have to be settled at some point or other. Problem was, Utiha would never allow them to fight, and even if she did, any sign of injury and the offending party would be severely punished.
So, there was a wall in between the two feuding nations, and that wall sure as hell wasn't going to buckle. It would've seemed that they would never have a chance to figure out who was indeed the superior fighter. And if they did fight, he couldn't possibly kill Dep, as it would result in his own death. If they were going to fight, it had to be covert. As if by a sign, Utiha was assigned to the Human World for a mission. Generally, Driago would go with her to 'protect' her, though she didn't really need it, he felt obligated to do it. This time, he had to abandon her, because this was truly important. He saw her off to the garganta, and then returned to the roof of Hueco Mundo a few hours later. He hadn't said anything to Dep, but he knew that she had an idea of what was up, and she'd be there soon. His reiatsu was quivering with excitement, shaking and wavering uncontrollably. This would be the decisive battle; he couldn't lose here, he might as well die.
Dep
Dep's unclad feet touched with light pitter-patters characteristic of a small animal. She was in a good mood, the cold floor of Las Noches felt a lot warmer today... the dry air so much more crisp. There was something very... right, about the day. She awoke to Endriago and Utiha missing, and set off to find them, Utiha much more than Endriago. Eventually, she heard from one of the Second Espada, Barragan's, fraccion that the Fifth Espada had been sent on a mission to the real world. So naturally, Dep needed clarification, because, let's face it, she never has been the brightest of the bunch.
"So... 'Driago and I have the day off?"
The only reply was, "Exacta!", before the fraccion sped off, most likely to kiss the feet of his beloved "King Barragan". Dep had to silently be thankful that she had not been picked for his fraccion, she'd have been killed on the spot for disobedience long ago, especially from an old windbag like him. In any case, she found herself walking the halls of Las Noches with nothing to do, until it clicked.
Wait... Endriago... and I are here, without Utiha to wat...ch over us... "OH, YEAH! I gotta find that stupid 'Driago, right now!"
Without hesitation, she began to run through the halls, the pitter patter of the small animal turning into the thrashings of an angry crocodile. The thing was, Dep and 'Driago had a silent rivalry since they'd met, and in the events of late, Dep couldn't help but think that 'Driago had in his mind that he was stronger. During the raid on Soul Society, Endriago had ended up fighting a Lieutenant, and Dep fighting a mere Fourth Seat. If that sort of gap existed between them, there was only one way to find out, and Dep was not about to let that gap get bigger.
Eventually, she emerged from the halls, into the large, open, white desert, with the artificial blue sky that Lord Aizen had created for them. Far off somewhere, but still in Las Noches, she could feel 'Driago's reiatsu, fluctuating, as though he was signaling for her, or maybe he was just anxious, she couldn't tell, but... she knew this would be a fun day. The moment the reiatsu hit her, a large grin grew on her face, and she pushed off of the ground, climbing, hand over foot, up one of the circular pillars of Las Noches, attemping to get higher ground, and find exactly where the bastard was.
The entire time, she thought back to her most recent fight, with the 4th seat, who's name she didn't bother to ask, nor remember. It happened to be the 4th seat's unlucky day, she was an electricity user, and therefore, Dep had been able to absorb or reflect all of her attacks, not to mention deal a few highly charged attacks of her own. Within a reasonable amount of time, her opponent had fallen, defeated. Surely enough, only moments later, she sonido'd to her opponent, nearly unconscious on the ground, and cut her throat, finishing her.
Meanwhile, she looked over to 'Driago standing victorious above his fallen opponent, but, as she had expected, he had not the gall to finish the girl. If they didn't have a mission, Dep would have given him crap about it then and there, however, she had some more destruction to do, so she found that to be more entertaining at the time.
This time was different. There was no distracting force, no watchful eye, nothing to stand in the way of the two who had been destined to fight since their meeting, and now it was going to happen. Far, very far in the distance, she could see a white speck against the red pillar of a building, and she knew it was him. The closer she got, the more certain she was, until she was only a few yards away, standing on air, in front of him.
"'Driago, Utiha's gone, and... I have an idea."
Driago
Endriago planted his spear into the roof beside him, so that he could lean back onto the small temple shaped structure that adorned the top of the pillar he selected. He seemed to be relaxed, allowing his back to lean forward a bit, but his reiatsu told another tale; it still fluctuated, shifter from high to low rapidly as an obvious sign of anxiousness. As hard as he tried, it was impossible for the fraccion to control his reiatsu. The fact that he could compress his spear to almost half length was quite an achievement, if not one of his greatest accomplishments. The other was that one time he counted to 34, but that was once and the phenomenon had yet to repeat itself. Disappointing, but hell, Driago wasn't cut out for the math and science division. It was rather ridiculous how Endriago always tried to abide by certain rules and morals, and is forced to go against them, and how he always tried to avoid smart things and yet could not. He had to fight and mortally wound a little girl in a science lab, and so he went against his moral code and looked like an idiot in the process. In fact, for a while after the ordeal, he had to be examined because he'd seemed to have gotten a bit of the gunk from the lab on himself.
But still, he'd managed to defeat the girl without killing her, and he was proud of it. Often times, he couldn't really control whether or not his strike would kill his opponent or not, but that wasn't to excuse his previous murders. If anyone seemed to hold an sort of grudge against Utiha or Aizen, or if they came close to beating him, he slayed them without second thought. In his mind those were not killings, but instead simple punishments. It went in a chain really, and it was quite ironic. Utiha killed sparingly, Endriago did occasionally, and Dep would do it on a whim. If he remembered correctly, she'd slaughtered her opponent last time without any hesitation. Given, she seemed like a bitch, and it wasn't for him to decide what was right or wrong. It wasn't against Aizen's or Utiha's whims, and so it wasn't a crime or anything. If there's one thing he was against, it was the killing of those who didn't deserve it, or those sided with Hueco Mundo.
He'd been up there for a few minutes, not long, but already he was growing impatient. She had not been present when Utiha left, so he could imagine she was rather confused, but she was fast as all hell and she had no excuse for her tardiness. In fact, he even tried to search for her reiatsu. It was a failed attempt in all reality, but he picked up slivers, small traces of her presence that was moving rather quickly. That was good, maybe she'd just come to the realization he did, that it was their perfect opportunity. Soon enough Dep would arrive, but that speed that was a convenience was soon to become quite the opposite. Well, he was curious to see how their encounter would go. It could be a truly passionate exchange of blows, a beautiful fight with both participants pouring their soul into each and every strike. On the other hand, it could be a friendly exchange, showcasing the friendly rivalry the two had between them. One way or another, he'd enjoy this just as much as she would.
Eventually he could feel her getting closer, which by his standards meant she was probably within viewing distance by that time. He lifted his head from his endless gaze into the sand and then into the pale blue sky above, he could see a her approaching. Well, not really, but he assumed it was her and his reiatsu began to fluctuate even more wildly. He stared at the sky once more. So fake, so boring...sometimes he longed for the beauty of the real world, where everything was spontaneous and self-reliant. But that was never here nor there, and besides, it was a gift bestowed upon them by their creator. He watched her grow ever closer, speeding towards him with an excited aura mirroring his own. Something inside him told him he should fire a cero at her or throw Pinaka while he could, but that would take all the merit and fun out of it. Hell, he didn't even know if she had the same idea as he did.
Endriago smirked at her comment, and spoke up. "Oh, did you now?" He placed his hand on the crown of his spear and pushed up firmly, putting all his weight on it and rose to his feet. "I have a feeling that you've got the same idea as I do." His hand tinkered with the top of his spear, and he gripped it tightly and dislodged it from the roof and allowed it to rest on it, his hand still on the top. "So tell me, Dep. Are you thinking what I am?" He smirked and his reiatsu pulsed even more wildly, and he could barely contain himself. Hell, even if she said that she wanted to go get a cup of tea and eat some ribs, he'd still charge at her brandishing Pinaka, ready or not. Here we go, it's finally time. I'll show her, Utiha, and Aizen-sama! Let's go, Dep.
