| 日向 ヒナタ |
Name:
Hyūga Hinata
Age:
Twelve
Gender:
Female
Village:
Konohgakure no Sato
Rank:
Genin
Clan | Kekkei Genkai:
| Hyuuga Clan | Byakugan | Juken |
Nature Manipulation:
-unknown
Appearance:
Unlike her sister, Hinata has inherited a lot of traits from her mother, most notably her dark blue hair, which is styled into a short hime-cut just above her forehead, with a pair of chin-length bangs at the sides, which frame her face.
Her eyes hold the illustrious Byakugan, the Doujutsu of the Hyuuga clan, meaning they are colored a bright white with a hint of lavender. Of course, when she uses said Byakugan, the veins and arteries around the eye bulge and become stressed, indicating that the enhanced vision is causing a great strain on normal human eyesight, though no such drawbacks have been named as of yet.
Hinata is known for having extremely well coordinated movement and flexibility, having based a lot of her Juuken techniques on this philosophy. Her speed is also rather remarkable, as most Hyuuga clan members are, to combine both allows a great variety of fighting tactics.
As for apparel, her choice of clothing consists of a rather heavy-looking hooded jacket, complete with fur around the cuffs and hem, cream in colour and a fire symbol on the upper right and left sleeves, near the shoulders. Underneath this, she has a simple black shirt, with a shinobi fishnet undershirt.
Along with the basic navy shinobi sandals, Hinata has a pair of three-quarter length loose-fitting trousers of the same colour, with her equipment pack strapped to her right thigh for easy usage and her shinobi head protector around her neck.
She has been known to wear different outfits depending on the occasion, for example at the Hyuuga clan household, Hinata has been known to wear the traditional Hyuuga clan garments, consisting of a simple loose-fitting robe with numerous coloured trimmings and a basic undershirt. Another of these outfits would be her casual off-duty garment, which is of a long-sleeved light blue blouse with a small collar and her same navy trousers.
Personality:
Hinata's very quite and serene nature grants a feeling of grace and complexity to all you delve far enough into her behavioral patterns. Torn between the fear of failure and the desire to protect and impress Uzumaki Naruto, Hinata finds herself in a losing emotional battle wherever she walks.
Being from a noble family such as the Hyuuga has granted a certain humility on her personality, using appropriate titles, names and suffix's for whoever she meets. A result of her father's neglect to involve himself in her life, she lacks a significant amount of self-confidence, shying away from large crowds in favor of quiet and tranquil locations. Her empathy is a very prominent feature of her persona, as it allows her to identify with Uzumaki Naruto's rather rough upbringing, leading to her wishing to be acknowledged by her clan.
Her hard-working attitude comes as a result of this determination to be noticed, to show Naruto that she is just as capable as he is, in an attempt to be noticed. She often becomes rather nervous in the presence of Naruto, her face sometimes turning red when he approaches her, known to faint with physical contact.
She is very much a thinker, rather than a fighter, taking time to analyse a situation, rather than charge in without thought. As a result, she is a competent fight when she can muster up the courage, utilizing the deadly Juuken taijutsu style created by the Hyuuga clan to create effect. As her story progresses, this may or may not become easier to achieve.
Due to the inherent problems in the Hyuuga household between the Branch and Main houses, many of the Branch family have been acting hateful, even violently against Main family members. Hinata does not have any problems with the Branch family, especially so to her older cousin Neji, who, despite being rather afraid of, she admires greatly as a beacon of strength for the Hyuuga clan.
I have mentioned briefly her relationship with her father and sister, however, allow me to go into more depth. Hinata, despite being neglected by her father and spited by Hanabi, wishes they could all get along, as a family, rather than a means to an end. She feels that her father is using Hanabi as a tool for the Hyuuga clan to advance their standings, however she is far too afraid to mention it and wishes only to strengthen the bond between her and her sister.

History:
Being the eldest member of the Hyuuga clan's Main House, Hinata was born the daughter of Hyuuga Hiashi and thus became the subsequent heiress of the Hyuuga clan. However, due to her father's views on her abilities, he revoked this right and gave it to her younger sister Hanabi, who was much more confident in her abilities. As a young girl, she was kidnapped by shinobi from Kumogakure no Sato, who, while pretending to strike a peace treaty with Konoha, instead wished to get their hands on the Byakugan. Hiashi came to her rescue, killing the assailant and bringing her back to the village.
However, more political matters would arise from this. Due to the death of a Kumogakure shinobi, Kumogakure demanded compensation, asking for Hiashi's corpse, as the two villages has signed a peace treaty only moments before this incident. The Hyuuga clan could not allow their clan leader Hiashi to be killed, so instead, Hiashi's twin brother Hizashi would take the fall, sacrificing himself to protect his brother, thus sparking Hyuuga Neji's hatred of the Main House, shaping him into the genius that he is today.
Hiashi had very high expectations of Hinata's conduct and abilities in battle, subjecting her to an intense training regime to hone her skills as the next Head of the Hyuuga Clan. However, Hinata's snail's pace progress and constant illness forced Hiashi to brand her as a 'lost cause' and instead gave the right of heiress to her younger sister Hanabi. By the time she had left the Academy, there was little to no interaction between Hinata and her father.
This caused a great deal of strain on Hinata's personality, causing her self-confidence to fall lower by the day, until all she could do was sit alone in a secluded place and cry. And then she met Uzumaki Naruto. Just seeing his resolve and determination developed into an admiration and then eventually, into love. Naruto, having been treated as an outcast for most of his life, created a familiar in which Hinata could relate, as she herself had been treated as an outcast by her own clan. His determination sparked something inside of her, like the tiny flame of a candle in a dark. Maybe, just maybe, she had found her hope.
At one point, Naruto even protected Hinata from a group of bullies. Despite not knowing who she was, Naruto refused to have those kids pick on her like that and fought them. Despite being beaten, he did not go down, he continued to fight until he was knocked unconscious. And despite the elder's warning for her to stay away from him, she eventually grew to sympathize with his ideals, wishing to be acknowledged for the shinobi she was and creating her hard-working attitude.

How odd... to have showers in the middle of summer, the samidare as Hinata had heard it mentioned in poems. An illustrious beauty as the light of the sun struck the drops of rain, creating a rainbow of flashing colors across the courtyard. The soft tatami mat underneath her seemed welcoming and warm, as if asking for her to take a nap to take away the stresses of the day. The squawk of a crow overhead, landing with a soft tap on the edge of the fence, searching for some source of food in the rain. It would not have to wait long, the worms would be emerging soon and it would have plenty to feed upon.
From her sitting position, she stood, hunched over and fidgety as usual, despite the fact that there was no one around. What if someone was watching her through the screen doors and she couldn't see them due to a bad light. Or maybe the crow was an enemy spy from another village sent to spy on the Hyuuga clan. No... no that was just her paranoia getting to her again. Perhaps some zenzai from the local vendor would be a good place to start to calm her nerves. She certainly hoped so.
Pulling her hooded jacket on over her undershirt, she quickly zipped it up, catching her finger slightly on the way up due to her haste to leave before the rain got any worse. Walking slowly, despite her wish to move faster, she arrived at the door of the mansion, pulling on her blue sandals and securing the straps tight as usual. It took a moment to adjust the weight of her feet in the soles properly, but once she had, she stepped outside into the pounding samidare.
In a fluid motion, she pulled up her hood before returning to her sheltered self, moving slowly through the streets towards the small stall on the right-hand corner, her favorite. Apprehensive steps towards the counter as the line moved forward, the thundering voice of the rain all around her, a deafening roar of excitement and glee, and yet also a hint of unexplained sadness.
One after the other, the customers filtered out, before Hinata was left at the forefront of the queue, in front of the impossibly tall man with a waist size larger than a planet. She couldn't help but feel intimidated by him. Even though she came to this store regularly, just the sight of this huge mound of fat and flesh made her want to run away and cry. And the discovery that she had forgotten in her haste to lift her wallet did not help matters. She cowered at the towering figure as he proceeded to pressure her for an order. She simply stood staring in fear, attempting to stutter out a sentence but all the words simply coming out like a jumbled mess of vocabulary.
And then she heard a voice from behind...
Her head turned without thought, slowly, with wide eyes. The yelow hair, to the orange and blue jumpsuit, to the pair of green goggles strapped to his forehead. He was the one and only Uzumaki Naruto, though the perfect image was ruined slightly by the specks of paint all over his clothing.
"Huh? You're that Hinata girl, right?"
"U-u-um... hai... N-naruto-kun..."
Heat built up in her cheeks and she could feel her face turning redder. He knew her name... it was a chance. If she could just work up the courage to talk properly they could be going on a da-da- da- DATE!? The thought of a date with Naruto seemed to overload her thought processes, all ability to move was now thrown out the top floor window of a skyscraper and straight into a furnace. Her legs shook and she couldn't look at him, not while she was so embarrassed. All she could think to do was run. So she did just that.
Teas spilling from her eyes, she barged past the yellow-haired Academy Student, throwing one foot in front of another to get home, water cascading from her eyes and adding to the rain. Shoving open the door of the mansion, she kicked off her sandals before running to her room and throwing herself onto the futon. There, she planted her face into the pillow and wept, like she did so long ago...
Why couldn't she talk to him?
Why couldn't she be... normal?
