Daisuke fiddled with a kunai between his gloved hands, thinking hard to himself about what he wanted to accomplish as a ninja. He'd always dreamed of being a hero, a famous Jounin with a cool nickname who had stories told about him all around the world. His dreams were laced with the fame that's invariably associated with the ninja world, but nothing had had such a buzz-killing effect on him before. The beatdown he'd recieved from Masami-Sensei had humbled him, but it had also made him consider things he hadn't before.
The more he learned about the ninja world, the more he realized that the fame wasn't why many of them did it. It was the satisfaction of serving their village, and the aspiration to improve at all times. His own sensei, The Mirage of the Desert, had a cool name and a reputation to go with it, but it didn't stop Daisuke from hating his ways and scorning the man. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how famous or powerful you are, it's all about the kind of ninja you become.
So what kind of ninja did he want to become? A master of the elements? A puppeteer? Many in his graduating class had gone on to train in the art. Perhaps he'd go and see what the place had to offer. Upon his arrival, he met a chuunin there who happily agreed to help him. The generous chuunin was a great help, but nothing about the craft of puppetry seemed particularly appealing until he saw the demonstration.
The chuunin had drawn a scroll and summoned a puppet out of thin air, and that fascinated Daisuke. Still he sat through the demonstration politely and seemed interested until he could steer the conversation toward that jutsu. The chuunin seemed rather amused by his interest, citing that the jutsu was very simple and was typically learned in the academy. Daisuke avoided the topic and continued onto how exactly it worked.
The chuunin explained that any physical item could be sealed away into a scroll with the right symbols, depending on the exact item or size of it. He even went on to explain that more powerful seals could even seal elemental nature within the bindings of it's paper. The strategical applications of the Jutsu flew through Daisuke's mind quickly. If he got good at these sealing jutsu, he would no doubt be an invaluable member of the team.
Seals could also be used to protect, and protecting the team leaves it alive, and alive team members are happy team members. He decided he'd give the jutsu a try, and the chuunin nodded approvingly before handing the young Sand Genin a scroll detailing how to seal typical items, such as ninja weapons or small containers, canteens, things of that nature, and another blank scroll to practice on. A quick thank you was extended before the young ninja ran off to study the details in solitude.
He merely scaled the building to the roof, sat down on the cold stone and laid the scroll out infront of him. The first symbol he looked at didn't appear too difficult, and reading more about it, he saw that it was designed to seal kunai. Wanting to test it out right away, Daisuke copied the seal as best he could onto the blank scroll and placed a kunai from his ninja pouch down upon it. His hands formed a single handseal before he pressed his fingers down upon key points in the seal. The ink seemed to glow for a moment, causing excitement to well up in the Hizuhiro boy, but it was short lived, as soon as it had arrived, the glow ceased.
Frustrated, he looked back to the scroll, comparing his seal with the one there, and noticing small flaws. Again he tried to draw the seal, this time taking his time on the intricacies around the edges. He placed the kunai down yet again, and formed the handsign, pressing his fingers to the seal. The glow started up again, and he concentrated his chakra, weaving its way through the passages of the seal that was the ink. Eventually all the chakra he put into the seal met, forming a perfect circle, glowing a more intense color than the previous attempt, and then in a poof of smoke, the Kunai had dissappeared.
In it's place there was a single katakana in the center of the seal, "Kunai." He'd done it! He'd successfully figured out how to seal a kunai, now to see if he could reverse the process... His hands formed a seal one more time, but this time he pressed his fingers to a smaller spot next to the seal on the page, releasing the kunai. It was just another poof of smoke before the knife had materialized right in front of him. YESSS!!! Now just to learn the rest of the seals...
It was then that Daisuke's expression fell, as he unraveled the scroll to reveal dozens more seals, and these were just the basic ones. He'd sure have his work cut out for him...
