Toph had her arms crossed as she 'looked' in his general direction. She could tell he was telling the truth he didn't want anything. But she still didn't understand why he had said 'someone good looking.' She supposed it didn't matter to much. He could think what he liked and she wasn't going to try to stop him. She didn't care what someone thought about her appearance it wasn't like she knew what she looked like or others for that matter. Besides it wasn't likely she would come across him again she was traveling with the Avatar they never did stay in one place to long. Speaking of which she wondered how long it would take before they would come looking for her. She had already caused a bit of trouble outside and maybe she could cause some trouble here too. She wasn't afraid to fight this man. It would actually probably be enjoyable. A small smirk began to form on her lips with the thought.
Toph shrugged her shoulders at his question. "I don't see why not. Unless you got trouble hearing!" Toph didn't have a problem having a conversation with this man across the store, and a bookstore at that. It made no difference if they were close or further away. She could hear them all the same. She was use to talking to people across from her a good distance when she would fight them. As well with her parents at times in a formal setting. They would sit one side of the room and she would sit on the other side usually Master Yu, as if he was a master, as they talked about her earthbending lessons. If he wanted to come closer let him she wasn't worried about anything. But that was in the past wouldn't happen again. They knew she was a great earthbender rather they approved or not was another thing. "You gotta a problem with that?" Toph asked staying in her earthbending stance as she smirked in his general direction.
Toph snorted at his comment of her 'not being told the truth.' She could tell when people lied to her and when they told the truth. It was fairly easy to do. There was always a physical reaction as there was to everything. "No one can lie to me. I can tell when people are lying and I certainly point that out." Toph didn't care if his name was Ki or some other strange name. She would probably come with some sort of name for him sooner or later. Depended on how long they talked, really. She would much rather fight than talk even if some people she was traveling with would disapprove of fighting random people. This caused her to smile a bit more.
