Kaibutsu couldn't believe it. Due to these new reforms the Mizukage was implementing, bless her soul, he still hadn't met his team. The waiting was driving him crazy. Ai might of instilled patience in him, but seriously...Some things just shouldn't take this long. And because of his current impatience with his situation, time seemed to go by very, very slowly.
So, to help pass the time, the young Gakidou decided to train, something he normally did anyway. The problem with that was that his mother had kicked him out of their own small backyard/training ground so she could do some yardwork (something he had offered to do for her, but she replied saying that this work would take a womanly touch), leaving him with nowhere to train. So he did the only logical thing. He went to the Kirigakure training grounds and picked the first one he happened to pass, regardless of who may of used it regularly. Okay, maybe not logical, but the easiest, by far.
And at this moment, as the midday sun trekked its way across the sky, Kaibutsu trained. Trained in what, one might ask. Well, anything really. He practiced his taijutsu kata's, his kunai and shuriken throwing, and he even trained with ninja wire for a bit, though it wasn't much of his forte. But there was only so much one could do on their own.
A sigh escaped his lips, as he threw a kunai haphazardly at the target, hitting almost directly on the bullseye. This was...boring. Very boring. The last option he seemed to have was to meditate. Or practice his earth ninjutsu. But he wasn't feeling either of those. Normally Kaibutsu preferred to train alone, but it seemed today would be one of those rare days where he would of liked someone to train with.

Akemi stared in disbelief. Like a deer struck with a sense of impending doom, she stood as still as possible. Unmoving, frozen within the sands of time. People would pass by and glance at her only to continue about their day. However, the kunoichi couldn't be bothered with them. They were the last thing on her mind. This abomination before her. This inconceivable tragedy that the mind had trouble processing. It couldn't be true. It had to be a lie. A joke. Anything! But still it cut into her and no matter how much she stared, no matter how much she willed it away, it remained.
CLOSED!
It was in big bold letters on the front of her favorite weapon shops. The words were blazed upon paper in a painful bleeding red that was bright enough to hurt the eyes. No chance of misreading or misinterpreting. Yet, Akemi continued to stare as if trying to see something else. Something like an "Open" hidden in fine print or backwards or upside down. ANYTHING BESIDES "CLOSED"! Though calm, if unmoving on the outside, she wailed in agony within her soul. It was impossible, inconceivable! She barely even knew what those words even meant, but if they were half as bad as they sounded than they described this sign perfectly.
The girl had even broken open her sacred piggy bank today. A month's worth of allowance and paychecks. Saved up religiously, painstakingly. All jammed into a cute pink (IT WASN'T A GIRLY COLOR!) cartoonist pig. There had been times when the temptation had almost been too much. Times where it taunted her from the corner, mocking her with a broad and cheesy smile. Still, she held on. Pushed forward with the years of determination and dedication that only ninja training set within a mindset. All for the weapon she had her sights set on.
A beautifully crafted zanbato. Simply, yet elegant, shaped like a large kitchen knife. Monstrous power in its frame, but neither dull nor clumsy. It had begged for her guidance through the window. Called out to her even. The girl had spent nights dreaming of polishing it to a gleam, building up the strength to use it in combat, and sharpening it properly to a razor's edge. And now it was gone, not even out of reach. Gone! It no longer sat in the window, instead a outline of dust took its place leaving a clean area in the place it sat. All she could do was fall to her knees suddenly. Her throat had gone dry and tightened so long ago that now she couldn't even force the gut wrenching "WHY!?" from her soul.
So much sadness. It wished to swallow her up and spit her out only after she turned to a shivering wreck of sobs. Then it ended. In its place was the need to cause destruction. Preferably with the tools of pointy instruments and big explosions. Her soul wouldn't be quenched without that satisfaction. So she made her way to the nearest training ground. Feet stomping. Teeth clenched. Body shaking in barely restrained fury. Millions of thoughts running through her head, no one without ending in a massive mushroom cloud that had a skull and crossbones over it.
Finally, she reached it. For the second time today she stopped and stared. A boy was here already doing his own training probably. "Please don't be an asshole," she pleaded mentally. The girl didn't know if she could deal with any more suffering today. She wanted to roar and rage at the boy for just being here. Anything that would make her feel better or help her forget the loss that weighed her down. However, in the end she deflated with a deep sigh and trekked over to him. Seeing him throw a lone kunai and hit the center as she walked up and copied the motion effortlessly as she plopped on her butt. The weapon sunk right into the into the bull's eye next to his.
"Shitty day for you too?" She muttered sourly. Perhaps he was a kindred spirit?

Kaibutsu almost jumped when the girl seemingly materialized next to him. Almost being the key word. He quickly scolded himself, repeating his mothers advice to never to let your guard down. As it was, he merely glanced over at her as she threw a kunai, hitting the bullseye as well. It was a little harder to see her through the slits in his mask (which he always wore when training, as to help stimulate the real thing), but from what he could see, she was kind of cute. A little small, but cute.
When she spoke, he moved his eyes back to the target before letting out a small sigh.
"Yeeehhp." Was his simple, drawn out reply.
Inside though, he was both a little angry and a little excited. A little angry at the fact that some girl in a bad mood decided to show up. Female's, even girls, were never a good thing when in a bad mood. This he knew from experience. But he was a little excited at the fact that maybe Ryujin had answered his prayers and sent someone for him to train with.
Regardless of this, he only let his boredom show. No need to get excited just yet. Pulling out a shuriken, he tossed it, barely looking at the target this time. It hit about three inches from the bullseye. Thrown weapons may not of exactly been his favorite thing, but he was pretty good with the damn things.
Taking off his mask, he looked down at the girl for a moment, taking in her features without the restriction of vision his mask placed on him. Yes, definitely cute. Would probably be beautiful someday. Too bad his heart belonged to Mei...
"Names Kaibutsu." His voice was still infected with the boredom this day had brought, but he managed to put a little bit of cheer into it, at least. He stuck his hand out to the girl, planning a proper handshake, though it would be a little awkward from their current position. "Future Mizukage." That last part was merely an afterthought, and didn't have much heart behind it, but hell, sometimes you gotta dream.

Akemi signed again at his answer, glaring at where he kunai hit its mark. While she had expected it with the sober mood he held, there had been a hope to be proven otherwise. A story of how he beat the tar out of some poor bastard in a brutal bloody way would have been satisfying. Then again, maybe that was a little far up there in terms of expectations. If only her glare could set stuff on fire, that target would be a smoldering pile of ashes. Then she'd stomp those ashes into the ground mercilessly, grinding them in with her heels. Oh how sweet that would be.
The mental image of running around and blowing stuff to bits with a fire jutsu that shot out of her eyes made her crack a smile. Even if it was impossible, she could still relish in the what if. It helped her mood lighten a bit. She wouldn't need fire shooting from the eyes to cowl that shop tomorrow. She was gonna raid the good weapons and barter him down to where he'd feel the short end of the stick stuck up his ass for days. However, that would have to wait.
She noted another weapon sail and stick the target, missing by a few inches. Guy wasn't half bad. Not as good as her, but she was in a completely different league when it came to weapons. The fact it was because she wasn't so great in other areas, the girl pointedly ignored. The buzzkilling thought was crushed and swept to the back of her mind before it came up. She pulled a shuriken of her own out and glanced at the boy once more out the corner of her eyes.
He had removed his mask, allowing for a better look at his features. From under her bangs she could also see that he was staring at her. The shadow he cast over her form probably helped too. "How tall is this guy anyway?" Why she didn't know. Maybe she looked familiar to him? They may have shared a few classes in the academy. However, she couldn't put a name to his face. Akemi would take that as a good thing. She didn't need him reminding her failures in the academy. It would only lead to bad things, for both of them. Like him being unable to reproduce and his forefathers clutching family jewels in their graves.
She jumped to her feet when he introduced himself. Kaibutsu. Nope, she never heard of him. So even if they were in the same class he couldn't have stood out too much for her to hear any lip about her skills from him. Things were looking up. The boy sounded a bit lackluster, but he was polite and Akemi was cool with that. Still, as nice as he was being Akemi hesitated in taking his hand to shake. Though a ninja, the petty self-conscious thoughts that came from being young popped up every once in a while. The girl's hands were about as rough as concrete. It threw people for a loop occasionally when they expected some dainty girl that couldn't lift three times her body weight.
He was a ninja though, so she tossed caution to the wind and gave him a firm shake of the hand. "Akemi Izayoi," she said setting up for one of her favorite introductions. "I'll become a swordmaster on the level of the legendary seven!" She proclaimed taking a step back. The small girl's legs set on the ground. Fires of will erupted behind her eyes and she pointed toward the heavens, her finger somehow catching the sun and letting of a blinding 'ping' of light. Trusted "Dynamic Awesome Pose #18" never failed. She would have added a few more things, but short was sweeter occasionally. And she didn't want to look like a braggart.
This was more like it! So what if she didn't get the sword she wanted? She was Akemi Izayoi, future legend. Years from now the owner would cry when his sword wouldn't be used as one of her most trusted weapons. It would serve him right for probably giving it to some shmuck that didn't know the difference between a katana and a tachi.

As she jumped around and introduced herself, Kaibutsu couldn't help but feel he had seen her before. In actuality, it was quite likely. She looked about his age, so she probably graduated the academy just recently, along with him. Probably not in very many classes together or something.
Besides, Kaibutsu didn't spend much time socializing during his academy days anyway, so it wasn't much of a surprise, really. As she jumped around though, he took the moment to take her in. Again, small, but cute. Also, her hands. Calloused. Very calloused. Like his. She must've trained something fierce to get hands like that. And Kaibutsu liked a woman with some fire in her. One of his main attractions to Mei.
A smile crossed the red-haired ninjas face, and his eyes curled into small smiles. It was good to see someone so excited about their profession. Especially to someone not looking forward to it all. The smile dropped from his face. Damn it all.
"Future legendary swordsman, huh? Thats quite the road. You gotta be awesome to get there. You think ya got what it takes?" His tone was in no way belittling her. He was genuinely curious, though from her overenthusiastic intro, he was sure he already knew the answer.
The smile returned. "Nah, nevermind. I can see it now, girlie. Mizukage Kaibutsu Gakidou and his trusted swordswoman, Akemi Izayoi. Yeah." He let loose a short laugh. He couldn't help seeing himself standing atop a pile of fallen enemies with a matured Akemi standing by him, both looking quite heroic. Too bad the path to that position was paved in the blood of enemy and ally alike.
This time the smile didn't leave his face, even with such grim thoughts. "So, what brings you here, huh? Just need ta blow off some steam or somethin?" Kaibutsu tied the mask to his obi, believing that putting it on would somehow be rude. He preferred no barriers when to speaking to someone anyway.

Akemi's stance relaxed, going back into a more natural posture. If only the dynamic poses could be used as attacks. Alas, it was not to be. Their might was too uncontrolled, volatile, to be used within the mists of combat. Maybe one day, after more combat experience, she would find a way, but now at the current time she it was only a wishful thought. Her attention went to see the boy's response. While it wasn't the shocked awe she rarely, but would prefer she could still deal with the smile. A small smile spread across her face as well for a moment.
He wasn't taunting her. He wasn't mocking her for silliness or childishness. Akemi even had to get a better look at him to make sure her mind wasn't playing tricks on her. However, he still looked the same. His hair and smile were still there and he was still tall. Which was kind of aggravating in hindsight. Even though she stood at full height, he still seemed to loom over her. Don't get her wrong, she could have kicked him hard enough in the groin to bring them to the same height, but just what had he grown up eating? And where the hell could Akemi find it. She was well overdue for her growth spurt and she wanted to cash in as soon as possible.
Still, he seemed alright. Even though he questioned her there wasn't any mocking spite in his voice. Kaibutsu had dreams too. Mizukage was a position that demanded everything from a ninja. "I could ask you the same "future Mizukage"," she replied lightheartedly. "Sounds like your path is a rougher road than mine." Then Akemi pictured it. After becoming a master of weapons, what then? Maybe setting out to recover all the mist's swords and mastering them?
Then when everything was said and done, it would just be her perfecting her art forms. Maybe retire and take over the restaurant for a steady income that wasn't dangerous like her parents. She wasn't sure about the future, she was too concerned about the present. And now she was still on the path to master every weapon a ninja could lay their hands on. So she added as an afterthought, "Focus on making it to the hat first,"she said laughing with him. Akemi didn't want the Mizukage title herself anyway. Too much time taken that could be spent somewhere else.
The good thoughts derailed though when he brought up why she was here. "Yeah, blowing off steam sounds about right," she said a bit of aggravation at her situation seeping into her tone. Akemi finally noticed that she'd been playing with the shuriken that she'd taken out for the duration of the conversation. Without really thinking much on it, she tossed at the target after a quick glance, hitting the center again. "I'm starting to feel better even if it's a bit slow." She desperately tried not to become more annoyed by the fact that she had to look up at him to meet his eyes. It wasn't like the boy was doing it on purpose.

Kaibutsu nodded to her replies on his road to Mizukage. He knew it was a hard road, but it was likely the only road that he would feel would make his father proud. If he got there, he could die in peace, knowing that there could be no disappointment when he saw Shi again. But that road was long. Very long.
First he needed a damn genin team! Without that he'd be going nowhere quick. Hey! Now that he thought about it, maybe this girl would be on his team! No. No. That couldn't be right. They weren't in the same class, and he knew that you were only paired with people who were. Unless they were doing something different. But from his knowledge they weren't. Damn restructuring of the system. Not that he would of preferred the old one....
"Hehe, will do!" The hat. Yep. A symbol of power. To wear it is to claim the power of the entire village. And to make yourself a large target. Damn it. Kaibutsu didn't like being a target.
Kaibutsu raised an eyebrow once Akemi threw the shuriken she had unknowingly been playing with. Even barely paying attention, she hit the bullseye. So, she was good with weapons. He should of guessed that though by the sword attached to her back. A ninjato, though if one were to see her from far away, it would look more like a katana considering the comparison between her size and its. Not that he would say that. Women were scary. Especially when insulted.
"Damn. Yer good. I'm more for stealth and stuff than weapons. I know my way 'round a tanto though. Two, actually." Kaibutsu let loose a small chuckle. His tanto were his babies. They were wielded by his father, and by his father's father. They had shed much blood in the name of the Gakidou, and he couldn't disgrace that.
"Anyway, girlie, since yer here, wanna train or somethin'? Cause' I'm bored as hell by myself." Scratching the back of his head, Kaibutsu beamed at Akemi, hoping the answer was yes. He didn't even care what they trained at. He was game for anything.

Akemi looked away from him at the compliment. The girl was unable to keep his gaze less she let something slip through that wasn't directed at him. Anger, frustration, and jealousy all swirling around the small, yet deep hurt that sat in the middle of it all. She was good with weapons and nearly nothing else. It was why she held her passion towards them. It was why she dedicated herself to them. Other genin could control and mold their chakra into bursts of nature all while making it look easy. Some could even fool the mind into believe things that never existed were right in front of them.
In the end, all she could do was use a weapon. Throw a blade with pinpoint accuracy and people still just saw a person throw a blade. Mold your chakra into a torrent of fire and people saw a person control the elements. No matter how "good" she was, Akemi didn't stand out. She was never "great" because people expected more, ninja and civilian alike. All the time she spent in order to master a weapon for every situation, yet the results weren't enough. Calloused hands. Strength that belittled her size. An edge in taijutsu. An ace up the sleeve someone might not be able to defend again.
However, she couldn't redirect a fireball with a battle fan. She couldn't cut through a bolt of lightning with a sword like she could a person. She couldn't break illusions with a fucking hammer like she could bones. It would never seem like enough to her unless she made some sort of break through. She was good, but she wasn't a master that could make the impossible into reality. Hell, some of the basics were still a chore for her to accomplish correctly! The girl tried to keep her face neutral, but a scowl had spread and her brows furrowed together in thought.
As the boy continued, Akemi managed to snap out of the confusing emotions trying to drown her. Training? Training sounded perfect. But what should they try to work on? Wait, he said he was good with stealth. So he must be aware of the mist's silent killing techniques. Mist had always been one of Akemi's more glaring weaknesses. If she couldn't see she couldn't pick out the target. If she could get around it...A wide smile came back to hre face. "You know anything about silent killing?"

Confusion spread through Kaibutsu's being as he complimented her on her skill with weapons. The reason was because she turned and looked away from him. At first it he thought it was just because she was shy with compliments, but then as he kind of leaned over to get a look at her face (hard, considering her height, which he was just noticing), just the side view gave him a different story. She looked more upset than anything? Did she somehow think he was insulting her? Regardless, he moved on. Hopefully he could fix that later.
"Silent killing? Yeah, I'm pretty good with it, if I do say so. Mom always taught me, silence is the best. 'To kill one opponent silently is to kill another without having a fight.' is what she said. Or somethin' like that." He said, chuckling a little at his slightly shotty memory. He may not of remembered everything she said exactly, but he definitely remembered almost everything she taught him. Mostly. Hopefully.
But silent killing, or more accurately assassination in general, was his thing. It was his mothers thing. And it was his fathers thing. A family of assassin's one would say. They generally weren't for the flashier techniques. Just for the ones that got the job done. Which Kaibutsu wasn't all the opposed to. Even if he was kind of not liking the whole ninja thing in general. Maybe sticking to the shadows and not really having people know who were would help. Or maybe it would make it worse. That was for the future though.
"Anyway, yeah. I just can't use the mist technique yet. Mom was gonna teach it to me. But she got caught in something. Can't really remember what it was. But yeah. Then we both forgot about it...But yeah." He went back to scratching the back of his head again, this time mostly in embarrassment. Usually his memory wasn't bad at all, but being around his mother lately seemed to be destroying his short term memory. Probably because she had almost none at all...
"What about you? You know anything 'bout silent killing?"

Akemi bounced excitedly on the tips of her toes, grinning up at the boy's confirmation. In her dynamic mind she was already going through multiple scenarios where silent killing would be useful. How silent killing could cover some of her more glaring weaknesses. With it came the ability to see without the eyes. Akemi wasn't quite sure how accurate she could become, but there was little doubt in her mind that she'd do her best to reaching a high level with the technique. It would also put her at an advantage in close range. Weapons wouldn't be wasted and lost as much with it in effect if she could just take someone out with a single weapon. Without the danger of superior counterattacks from an enemy.
Even if she wasn't partial to her inevitable first kill, Akemi could always bash the snot out of someone from behind. A concussion could go a long way with information gathering and what not. All she had to do was convince Kaibutsu to teach her everything he knew about it! The girl didn't even let the fact that neither of them could utilize the mist technique bother her. They could work around that. Blindfolds or something, she might even be able to run back home real quick and tear up some rags. Akemi might get an earful from her parents later, but it would be worth it when she became that much of a better ninja. And that was IF she got caught in the first place. Her parents weren't master ninjas and somethings did manage to escape their notice...sometimes.
Anyway, with a skip in her step Akemi moved a couple of feet away from Kaibutsu. With a dramatic show of going through stretches, she considered what to start on first. "Do I know of Silent Killing? Damn near nothing." She spoke as calmly as talking about the weather. "But that's where you come in! If you can tell me everything I need to know about it, I may just be able to pick it up." Akemi knew that wasn't going to happen. She was far from the gifted prodigies that begged for attention. Still, Kaibutsu didn't need to know that. If he showed her some of the basics, she'd just work on them constantly until tomorrow and they'd continue.
"But when I say everything...I mean everything," Akemi said seriously. The way you moved. How to step in and out of defenses without a sound. The way you instilled fear and played mind games, making your voice reverberate all around. How do you control and work with any terrain without it working against you? What weapons would work the best in what ways? The girl needed theory, examples, and real life motions. Amazing how some people considered her dumb. If they saw all the thoughts bouncing around in her head right now, they would see a whole new side to her.

Kaibutsu almost laughed at her response. Nothing? Well, damn. Why had she mentioned it then? You couldn't really train in something you didn't know. You had to have a teacher for that. And a teacher, Kaibutsu probably was not. Too bad. The more he talked with this short girl the cuter she seemed to become. Maybe he could of wooed her or something if their topic was silent killing.
Then she dropped it on him. Tell her everything he knew about silent killing? Everything? There was a LOT to know about silent killing. It wasn't just something you DID. It took time and skill. It was also made easier when your teacher was really good at it, like his mother. He himself was alright at it, better than most genin for sure, but he wasn't sure he could proficiently teach or even tell anyone HOW to do it.
As he thought this over, though, suddenly it sprung into his head. Maybe if he taught this girl, Akemi, how, she would know how awesome he was. Yeah, that sounded grand. But wait, where did that come from? Eh. Who cares? She was cute, and apparently strong. If there was one thing Kaibutsu couldn't stand it was weak little genin girls who expected their teammates to do everything for them. (Somewhere, somehow, a pink-haired girl sneezed.)
"Everything?" He said, repeating his earlier thoughts. "Theres a lot to know. It will take some time, and be really hard. You sure yer up to it?" He was serious, looking directly into her eyes to try to convey to her the importance of her answer. Silent killing was not something someone just picked up...Ok, thats a little bit of a lie. He was mainly trying to appear more cool than anything. As an added effect, Kaibutsu crossed his arms over his chest, again in an attempt to appear...cool.

The girl was thorough with her stretches, making sure the blood in her body was pumping in preparation. She carefully limbered up so that her body would be ready for any range of motion she needed. There was no such thing as down time because of a stupid cramp. Time was precious to her. She couldn't just pick up what he was going to show her. Akemi needed that time to practice over and over again. Constantly, until she burned the memory into her mind and body. How she would perform while paying attention to how she felt when she performed it.
She didn't have talent like most others. So the kunoichi worked hard instead, hard enough to bridge the gap. Akemi had to believe that hard work beat talent when talent didn't work hard. Akemi had to hope that the dedication she put in was enough to surpassed even those who had talent. She turned her attention to Kaibutsu with a peak of interest as she finished up. With a roll of her shoulders Akemi gave Kaibutsu a steady stare, her eyes meeting his unflinching. Inside she burned with anger. Nothing stood in between her and something she worked for. She had taken her place among the ninja ranks already. However, her jaw tensing was the only outward sign of annoyance.
Akemi let the intensity in her stare fade away with a deep sigh. "If you're willing to teach, I'm willing to do everything I can to learn it," she said in an even tone. The girl stood tall and placed her hands on her hips to match him crossing his arms. Akemi did her best to channel the passive intimidating power of her mother. There but not really there. It wasn't threatening, but it gave off a feel of agreement being a better option. Akemi knew that Kaibutsu didn't want to waste his time if he could help it. So she wouldn't waste it.
He'd show her everything she needed to do. He tell her the in's and out's. Even if he wasn't that great at being a teacher, Akemi would deal with it. The girl needed this technique. Akemi needed to make it work for her like every other weapon she had in her arsenal. Just like the goal of becoming a ninja, she had to reach it. To do anything less...wouldn't be enough for her. If it wasn't enough, it wasn't useful and if it was useful she may as well fail at it. Failure was not an option.
"So...uhm, where should we start?" The girl asked curiously, dropping her arms. Her hands moved to the scrolls on her person, plucking them and looking them over. "What weapons are best? Does the movement demand shorter weapons or can you work with larger ones once the movements are good enough?" She caught herself before she started rambling and looked up from her scrolls to Kaibutsu.

Kaibutsu almost flinched as Akemi stared at him with those eyes. Those eyes that held a raging fire behind them. The eyes of someone who would do everything in their power to reach their goal. A look that he himself wished he could hold. His attraction towards this short shinobi seemed to grow at this. Growing from a 'she's cute' to 'maybe I want her'. Of course, he didn't consciously notice this, but it happened.
The look faded as she sighed and stated her willingness to learn. Along with that pose, one his mother used often, that left no room for denial, Kaibutsu knew any reservations he had about being a teacher didn't matter anymore. Not that he was complaining. He got to train this cute girl, which meant he got to see her, and could more easily woo her...
"Hmm, well, any weapon you want is good, as long as you can stay completely silent with it. But yeah, its good to stay small and move up, if you really want." Kaibutsu responded to Akemi's questions, using the same explanation his mother had given him. She had also told him about Zabuza and Kisame, two former Swordsmen with very large weapons, and how they could still stay completely silent, even with such large weapons. He didn't feel the need to tell her that, though, since she DID aspire to be a swordsman. Er...swordswoman.
"But, before all that, you have to learn how to see without seeing. And to do that...well, lets just say it involves lots of meditation and having things thrown at you while you're blindfolded..." Kaibutsu said, once again scratching the back of his head. He didn't know how she would feel about that. When his mother had explained it to him, he did NOT want to do that....At all. Of course, she had used that pose, and next thing he knew, he was blindfolded and dodging shuriken.
"Sooo...yeah. Which one you want to work on first? I'm good at meditation and could tell you about some of that...Or we can start with dodging stuff?" He wouldn't throw shuriken of course. Well, not at first anyway. The training wasn't complete until you could dodge objects that could ultimately kill you if you weren't careful. Besides, rocks didn't make the same sounds as a shuriken or kunai as they made their way through the air.

Akemi looked back down and nodded to show she was still listening intently. Any weapon so she should probably start off with something relatively small and light. A kunai seemed to mundane though. It was so boringly basic that the attack wouldn't stand out at all...Not that it was supposed to, but Akemi liked being unique and original. Her favorite sword was out. The weapon was deadly, but she wanted to get a feel for the technique before using them in combination with one another. It was also a bit larger that it should be for her to wield, the weapon being a full sized ninjato and her being below average in terms of stature as much as she loathed to admit.
She needed something small that could stab and slash. So needles were an straight no. They required good precision and accuracy even in close range as well, they'd be worthless while learning. The girl wasn't even sure if she wanted something outright fatal either. Maybe a blunt practice weapon to just give the feel of holding something real? No...Akemi never half-assed something she wanted to do. Then it hit her like a splash of cold water. Her eyes scanned the scroll before her for the weapon and a smile crossed her face. Only to turned into an annoyed pout when Kaibutsu said that they wouldn't even be needed weapons right now.
Still, throwing more weapons didn't sound too bad. Sounded simple so far, she even had some blunt kunai and shuriken they could use...that she left at home. "Damnit," she thought bitterly. Well, if lady luck thought that was going to stop her, the bitch had another thing coming. She repressed a shudder at the other one. A band of her existance...Meditation. She could bet that somewhere off in her own little world that lightning struck in broad daylight. For her to willingly resign herself into sitting around and doing nothing like a geezer would take all her dedication. She kept telling herself it would be worth it, but that didn't ease the sense of imminent death by boredom.
"Dodging stuff. I just have to stay quiet and dodge right?" the girl replied instantly. Akemi was already pulling out some extra wraps. Meditation could wait until she was nice and exhausted enough to stay still. As she started to wrap it around her eyes she added to herself as an afterthought "I'm better with hands on stuff anyway.". Slowly and carefully she blocked out her sight, making sure to keep the blood going to her head. If felt so different. How much did she rely on her eyes? The girl prided her sight and attention to detail. Akemi felt that it made her solely unique among any other genin in her class. Now that it was gone, she couldn't help but be extremely glad it wasn't permanent.
The girl didn't even want to consider the thought of losing the sense of sight for real. She shook the thought from her head and bounced a little to get the blood flowing. Then she settled in a ready position. "Alright, hit me!" She shouted determined. Just stay quiet and move out the way. In her eagerness she didn't realize she'd never asked Kaibutsu exactly how it is she should move. Then again, maybe jumping in was the best solution for Akemi. Both the genin would find out soon enough.
(Please throw multiple rocks at once, I'm going to have a ton of fun with this next post.)

"Just be quiet and dodge? Its a little more...complicated than that. Now that I think about it we probably should'a done meditation first..." Kaibutsu said, a look of thoughtfulness crossing his face at that point. Thats how his mom had taught it to him. Eh, maybe this way would work too. You never knew.
"Anyway..." He said, watching as she put the blindfold, and already she looked completely lost. It was easy to spot someone not used to seeing only black. Their bodies tensed in certain ways. Something his mother taught him to look for if he managed to blind his enemies with a jutsu or flashbomb. They were always the easiest targets. "Just make sure to clear yer mind, focus on only the sounds around you. Or somethin'."
With that, he picked up a fistful of rocks. Around four. "Also, don't worry 'bout being quiet. That comes at step five." Taking two into his other hand, he threw those two with pinpoint accuracy. Now that he thought about it, maybe he should of done like his mother did, and started by throwing them close to him, so he could get a feel for them...Well, too late now. Well, if she didn't manage to dodge, hopefully she wouldn't be TOO angry with him. Damnit, why did his memory have to pull up stuff after it was already too late? Whatever....with that, he threw the other two, only a few seconds after he threw the first two.
